I'm sure it has been several month since I have been on this site. So I thought I had better check in before the site kicks me off or something. I am preparing to leave for Japan -- though not hurriedly preparing. I am at my grandparents' house to empty my car out so I can pass the car off to my sister. Last weekend was spent with Liddlebunny and was so much fun! We wandered State Street and ate Indian food and ...watched a Brewer's game. Was that a baseball game? Aren't baseball players supposed to hit the ball and run around the bases and ... I guess they tried to do that. But, it was, um, not quite up to par (if you'll excuse the mix-n-match sports metaphors).
Today I preached in a little farm town in Eastern Iowa. It's near Maquoketa and all the little places I've preached and worshipped before. I like that area of Iowa, that corridor of Eastern Iowa -- actually, it's Jackson County that I like, from St. Donatus in the north to Preston in the south. What a place -- but not where I want to be stationed just yet. It's off to Japan in three weeks. Provided my visa comes. My passport is at the visa office, neither of which I've seen since the middle of July. I'm a little worried. First thing in the morning I'm calling the DGM office about what's taking so long.
On a good note, I have received my first paycheck from DGM. Yea! I can pay my bills! At least this month. It's the little things in life...
