There's a lot of mordant irony in sitting in a chow hall in Basrah and watching the news when the top story is "The Last Combat Troops Are Out Of Iraq!"
Woo. Yay. Let me know how that works out for you, guys. As one of the guys in my office asked, "Does that mean we can go home now?" Nope! Sorry, we're "advisors", just like Bob Hope once commented.
Bet you no one bothers to televise our homecoming ceremony. But then again, no one ever does. No one ever cares what the most deployed brigade in the Army does.
But hooray, 'Mission Accomplished'. At least this time we're not making an entire Nimitz-class carrier play photo-backdrop for a wannabe cowboy.
