Behind in gardening. Again. Boom, just like that plants are leafing out, sun chokes are throwing out roots and buds (per ones I found today while digging) and I haven’t even gotten mine plants yet. I need to get the three raspberry plants transplanted first before I can fill their old bed with sunchokes, then I need to plant the sun chokes and mulch (shouldn’t take long), and I have potatoes and handful of daffodils to plant. Also paths to mulch, and trees to mulch in the orchard garden (while I still need to dig there as well). And other flowers and annuals to start somehow, and STILL need to map out everything as far as what plants go where. And still have mulch to move, and probably need more. And trips to Renfrow’s, Home Depot, Tractor Supply for trellises, netting, and posts. NOT super pressing is clean up front bed, trim hedges in front yard, dig out area around pineapple guava to be ready for planting, and map paths and start digging out the rest of orchard garden.
At this point it’s about finishing and shoring the beds I have in place. I got a LOT of digging done last year (and the fall before); just have the guava bed, what’s left of the bed at the back of the house, and the orchard area (which could be slow with all the rocks). Otherwise it’s clean up, particularly garden edges with rocks and stones (can use logs for most of orchard garden), and figuring what we’re growing. Once that’s feeling good, I can think about the front yard and east side of property.
I also need to figure out what crops are worth doing more work than direct seed and walk away. Doing anything else takes a lot of time.
Oh well, it gets done when it gets done.
