Just Wondering

Just a quick question. Do any of you have a private journal for perhaps posts where you rant or vent, or just don't want people to see? Or do you adjust the settings for those types of posts to private?  I know there will be times where I want to vent and perhaps not have my friends reading it. Hence why I'm asking this question.

vent, private, types of journals, question

In the past, I've tended to use an 'offline' journal on my computer for vents or private thoughts. I think it's about personal preference on what one feels most comfortable doing. It's easy to type it out on your current journal and just designate it as 'private' also, but I guess one could run the risk of 'forgetting' to do that, and have people see it. In that case, creating another journal that has the 'default' post security setting to 'private' would be pretty safe.

Honestly, I still have a pen and paper journal, how old school is that??!!!! But really sometimes it would be easier to type. I seriously can't write as fast as I can type, LOL. I'm going to give it some thought over the next couple of days what to do. I surely do appreciate your input though.

Ohhh yes, I still have a few moleskin paper journals as well. If I go out on a hike and know I'll get time to sit by a nice body of water I take one with me to write in. : ) I still prefer to write out my poetry on paper also. Just nothing beats pen on paper for me, yet it's much quicker to get thoughts out of my head via the keyboard too, so I relate to you there! :D My thoughts come on top of the other, sometimes at warp speed, and can easily lose track if handwriting them out. : )

Whatever you decide, I hope it works well for you. : )

I don't use the private option to post although a few years ago, I had a second journal to post a few thoughts to about five people but that was more purely to get through a life situation I was going through at the time. The me now would just post and be open and value the support and people relating to my openness over sharing and getting to know people. I find it helps to share and connect and I love the interaction on here too much to bother with posting just for me.

I guess I'm just concerned that if I were to vent, and it wouldn't be every single day, that people may be put off, or leave nasty comments. So perhaps I could do a bit of both, if it's just a major rant, I could post it as private. And if it's an issue that isn't too off putting, perhaps some support from others would be helpful. Honestly, I don't know if I want to create another new separate account, if I don't have to.

Thank you for your response, you've been most helpful :)

Occasionally I write posts on my LJ and set the privacy so only I can see it.

I've been trying & doing my best to not write too much depressing/anger posts as I feel some are critical but at the same time, it IS my ElJay & can write what I like. I have NO issue if anyone vents, etc. We ALL need to, at some point & it helps for positive/supportive feedback.

I do use my old account ONLY in regards to DV/PTSD related stuff but it's all public.
