Today in my SMF 306 - Formation and Maintenance of Intimate Relationships class, we learned about attraction: initial [and somewhat long lasting] physical and longer-lasting psychological attraction. It was basically stuff I've learned in my previous classes, so I'm not quite worried about the test next week.
I "learned" [again] that opposites do not attract. Although, complementarity is a whole different concept. It is much more complex to define and categorize, as is human social interaction.
Applied to my own relationship with Marky, as much as we are different, we tend to complement one another. And to make things a lot easier, we're both pretty flexible in terms of our differences.
For example, he's a vegetarian. I can live with that. And to be honest, it gives me a reason to buy more vegetables and fruits. Healthy lining for the win! And you know what they say: Beauty is healthy. Errrrr well, something like that. Another difference is that he's really outgoing and stuff. Well, I'm not super shy, but I guess I just take a bit longer to warm up to people.
But to be honest, our differences aren't at all that small. Then again, this could be me minimizing them. Who knows. All I know is that I'm happy, and as long as I know he's happy, I'm sure this relationship can work.
Time to sleep!! I have a stats midterm in a few hours. Hurray!
