Fortunately, Walter had had an entire night to remind himself that Pippi usually seemed to have good reasons for what she did and that she was his best friend, which meant she would have a very good reason for not telling him about what happened with Nadia.

He'd told himself that something approaching a thousand times by the time he knocked on Pippi's door loudly enough to be heard over the morning music.

"It's Walter."

"Come on in."

[walter_n_wires]

"Hey." Walter closed the door behind himself and leaned against it. "I hear you had an adventure."

[strongestgirl]

"Not as much adventure as some." Pippi said. "Did Nadia find you?"

[walter_n_wires]

"I found her." Where she'd been convinced he didn't care what happened to her.

"Why didn't you tell me what happened?"

[strongestgirl]

"I couldn't find you when I got back. And you and she were having some sort of disagreement, what was I supposed to say? 'Sorry Walter, creepy men drugged and drove off with your girlfriend and I couldn't stop them and the police arrested me for running out into traffic and they didn't believe me when I told them and nobody would tell me anything or let me help and I don't know where she is and my crystal ball doesn't show me anything but water, and metal, and cold water and metal so our dance teacher has gone off topossiblydietryingtoget her back and PricipalWashburnwon'tletusgo after him and there'snowayofknowingwhereanybodyis even if we were to sneak away!'"

By this point Pippi is flailing just a little bit and talking rather quickly.

He wanted to give her a break; this was Pippi after all. He also never wanted to have to choose between his girlfriend and his best friend.

But dammit. "Nadia thought I didn't care what happened to her when I didn't at least visit her after she was rescued."

"And as soon as I found out, And I didn't find out until she showed up to class on Monday. I told her to go find you."

[walter_n_wires]

"Right." Walter ran his hands through his hair, shoving it away from his face. "Just... if there's ever a next time, this wasn't really good for me, or Nadia, or me and Nadia."

"...I tried to stop 'em."

[walter_n_wires]

"I'm not blaming you for the kidnapping." And again, it was Pippi, which made it difficult to blame her for much of anything.

"But don't keep that sort of thing from me. You wouldn't be happy if Pip had been kidnapped and I didn't tell you." To say the least. If it had been anyone but Pippi, he was almost guaranteed to be less understanding than he was being with her.

Pippi nodded. "I shoulda called you and told you I was looking for you... I just... Didn't know what to say."

[walter_n_wires]

Walter relented and nodded. "Right. Then we've settled that. How are you otherwise? I haven't been a very good friend lately."

[strongestgirl]

"To be honest? I'm kinda bored." Pippi said. "The trip to Las Vegas was nice but now I'm feeling restless. All this staying in one place stuff is hard work."

[walter_n_wires]

"We should find something to do. With our girlfriend and boyfriend along, too, so they don't feel left out." Feeling guilty about not being there for his girlfriend? That probably went without saying.

[strongestgirl]

"Weeell... We could take The Treasure Oscar out for a three hour tour weekend. The weather's getting rough not that bad 'round here... I'll check for charts in the liberary maybe?"
