That groan? Quite likely an indication that Walter had realized that he was alive and that there weren't actually several angry dwarves looking for a gold deposit in his skull.

The stumbling noise and the sound of a curtain being drawn? Probably also Walter.

And that Walter-shaped head peering into her alcove? Clearly someone else.

Pippi looked up at the Walter-shaped head and smiled.

She closed her notebook.

"Good morning fella. How are you feeling today?"

She's speaking quietly, but cheerfully.

Cruel? Yes, but only a little.
