So a lot has happened in the past months. Matt and I went to Las Vegas for a few days just prior to Thanksgiving. It was a great trip, we stayed at Excalibur and saw “Spamalot” while we were there. For those of you that don’t know, “Spamalot” is the Broadway musical form of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” It was a lot of fun. And much like the movie, many quotable lines. I highly recommend it.
Basically, besides Spamalot, all we did was eat. A lot. The Italian place in Excalibur (Regale - really really good! Good prices and an absolutely *insane* amount of food.) Biggest meal was the one where we decided to splurge a little and each get a $25 burger. We went to Burger Bar where you customize your own burger. Everything is individually priced so you can get a plain old cheese burger for about $10 or you can get a Kobe Beef or Buffalo burger with all the fixings (and some you probably would never thing of like lobster, black truffles, etc) for about $120. We splurged, but not that much. We each got American Kobe beef (supposedly the most tender beef in the world). Matt got a bacon, jack and cheddar on his. I went a little more “steak house” and got Bleu cheese and grilled onions on mine. Mine was really good, I wasn’t as impressed with the Kobe as I thought I would be but perhaps my expectations were a tad high. It was really tender though, and the texture was just odd. It was flakey, almost like a croissant. Very different.
Things we did not involving food? Lots of walking, shopping, and a little gambling (less than $20 between the two of us, which we lost. We’re big spenders.) Oh, we also went to the Tiger and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage. That was pretty cool. We got to see a 5 months old dolphin named Sgt. Pepper. It’s a research facility so there aren’t shows or anything, everything is just the dolphins playing, or interacting with researchers. While we were there, one dolphin needed blood drawn and medicine so we got to see how the researchers do that. It was interesting to see how the dolphins are very easy going and trusting. They let the people just do what they need to do, it was like they knew they were helping them so they just submitted. There is also an underwater viewing room and the best part of that was that one of the dolphins knew where that window was and played it up. She was such a ham. It made for great pictures. She’d swim right up to the window, do flips and spins, then look at you with this look that said “You get all that?” I never realized how human their eyes looked before that. Over all it was a great trip! And very much needed!
