Noises in my head

No, not like people in your head telling you to do things. I'm not THAT crazy...

Anyway, I've got a little story to tell. It's been on my mind lately, so I might as well share. When I was in kindergarten, I had this dream. In the dream, there was this cassette player, playing some tape. I wasn't music though: it was the sound of a person going "Aaah" over and over. And not "Aaah" like screaming, just making a soft, creepy noise, pausing, then making it again, over and over.

This wouldn't have bothered me, had the noise stopped when I woke up.

After that night, for at least a month, (maybe more, it was a while ago and I forget) as soon as it got dark I would hear that same noise incessantly. While I was awake. I'd be brushing my teeth, getting ready for bed, with that noise in my head. And it wasn't like having a song stuck in your head - that you can push away, or control in some way. It was as if there was some little nocturnal imp hanging out on my ears making noise. For some reason, I didn't tell my parents about it, until now. Honestly don't know why.

But after a while, I had another dream, of the same cassette player. I reached out, pressed "Stop" and stopped the tape. I moved my arm to press an invisible button in real life too, because I woke up with my arm handing in mid air. I never heard the noise again.

I watched the 3 part Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords story on Doctor Who the other day, which is what got me thinking about this. When the Master was talking about his crazy head-drumming, I was like "Dude, I can totally empathize."

Which is maybe why this is notable. I don't find myself empathizing with people often. Seeya
