maybe I do have some energy after all . . .

The music in the background is "Climb Every Mountain," but that has nothing to do with it I swear.

IT'S ABOUT CHOICES, SILLY. Making a decision. That's LIFE. Taking the reins, self-determination.

It's important to put these things into words. It's like those childhood sand forts, sand and seaweed. Seaweed just drifts with the rising and falling waves, sand gets worn down fast, but if you layer the seaweed with the sand . . . well, it still gets worn down, but much much more slowly. The concepts are caught up and tied to the words, so that when the words are found the concepts are keyed up too, and the concepts are what give the words meaning and power. Sucky metaphor now that I come to think of it, it's really more like an anchor thing, but nevertheless. The mental state is the only thing that matters, but the mind does not exist alone. It extends into the physical world so that everything around you affects your mind/feelings.

Build off what you've got, because that's all you can do most of the time, that's the only way you can refine things. In any given objective set of circumstances, say living in our house in Orono and taking certain classes at UMaine in the fall semester of 2004, no job, such and such set of social contacts, there are going to be rows of up and down, sets of reality where life is 90% how you want it or 10% or 35% and so on (it's always easier to remember being in your current mental state than a different one, so it does make sense to consider them as connected disjoint sets) so the objective is to take the 90%'s and build on them, encourage them to grow and expand, and see if you can improve the 50%'s, and get rid of the 10%'s as much as possible. And if that doesn't work out too well, and you're spending all your time below 20, it's time to change the circumstances. Do not forget the importance of that. There's always the option of starting over. It just means you'll need to do a lot of refining on that to make it what you want.

Onto other stuff.
