so my check engine light has been on for a couple months now, and tonite when i get in my car and start it up...nothing(the engine started don't worry... but the check engine light was absent). i think it flashed on for a sec with all the other lights then went out. did it burn out? did i manage to reset it? will i bother to attend to other

Get your oil changed, biyatch.

Also, it probably means that you're fine and the check engine light was nothing. If it's not an ongoing problem and is something that just happened once (cylinder misfire, gas cap loose, etc) then after you start it up a certain # of times it gets reset automatically.
