Pegasus 1 – Day 2 and 3

This is just going to be bulleted highlights because most of the two days were a blur. Some of this will probably be repeats of things noted by my roommates and the hundreds of other people that went.

Ellie Harvey:
She shared a house with a couple other people and Paul McGillion where he had only a curtained off bed (dubbed 'Paul's Space') in the living room. Apparently she would wake early and quietly sneak past him to the kitchen and she'd hear from his direction (in a Scottish accent) something along the lines of "“Nurse, can ye help me with a wee problem?”" She dubbed this “"Creepy Scottish Guy".  So, when she first watched Atlantis and heard Carson... she of course goes “"Hey, it's Creepy Scottish Guy!”"  I was quite amused.

The ship on the ship (the Daedalus that is) is Novak and Hermiod. I don't know how sarcastic she was being, but she said that she liked working with the animatronic Asgard because she got about as much response out of him as she did some live actors she'd worked with. In between takes, apparently the tech guys who run Hermiod will make facial expressions that Ellie (an improv actress) will respond to so she winds up holding this 'conversation' with the 'alien'.

She also suggested that Novak and Walter should be dating.  She wants a scene where she's walking past him (probably nervously) and pauses long enough to say something like "My place, 6 o'clock." before moving off screen.

She did some cool improv with an audience member. She dragged a couple of girls up, one to hold the mic and another to act as her arms while she provided the dialog.

Craig Veroni:
He and his wife just had their first child about 2 weeks ago. This was brought up because the Save the Brit group gave him a small teddy bear wearing a t-shirt with their slogan and pictures and the like.  He thought the shirt might just fit his little kidlet.

His favorite movie is a Canadian flick called Treed Murray... of which David Hewlett is the star. It really is a good movie... and I'm not just saying that because I love DH.

At Saturday night's party, he picked up Jason, slung him over his shoulder and walked up the stairs to the stage then spun around before dropping Jason back to the ground. I know I was awed. He also did what appeared to be a Zoolander impression though not having seen that movie, I'll just take everyone else's word for it.

Jason Momoa:
Very cool dude. Talked about how he experienced a lot of bullying and racial problems while growing up in... Iowa, I think. Apparently he didn't get his growth spurt until much later in his school years. He also mentioned that it was just him and his mom most of his life. So I was very much impressed with him... especially since I didn't really know anything about him until he joined the SGA family.

I don't know if this was during his set or Rainbow's, but he tried to get Rainbow to do the Haka. Rainbow tried to bow out of it saying it was a spiritual thing and didn't you have to be Polynesian to do it. So, it got turned into an imitation of Ellie's improv bit with Rainbow being Jason's arms. At some point Ellie came out and added an extra set of arms that appeard to just be feeling Jason up.. I think. I was too busy laughing my ass off to get a good look. Lucky woman.

Rainbow Sun Franks:
I realized something this weekend. This man bears a very scary resemblance to my ex-husband. I guess I never really noticed that before on the show because he doesn't get to act goofy as Ford and I didn't catch it at the GW dinner last April because I didn't see that much of him. However, watching him the 3 days of the con... his facial expressions, the way he moved sometimes... frightening, just frightening. I'll have to see if I can dig up a pic of the ex that was particularly similar to Rainbow for comparison.

He was asked what thing Aiden would have stolen from Atlantis. The way the question was worded though, it sounded as if the questioner didn't see the end of Siege 3 when Ford took off with weapons and a PJ so he was kind of surprised by the question. The question was clarified by adding 'stolen, but no one knows about'. So.... Aiden... he stole Zelenka's underwear after he knocked him out.

Aaron Douglas:
He brought his son onto the BSG hangar deck set once, where all the Viper props are kept. The poor kid kept asking for a ride in one and even went to far as to climb into one of the aircraft. He was apparently very dismayed to find a severe lack of instrumentation in the cockpit. At some point Katie Sackhoff who plays Starbuck came by and found it so cute that the kid thought the Viper's were real.

He seems to have spent some time with Paul McGillion or at least the company of the SGA cast. He related the story of when Paul told his parents about landing the role of Carson on Stargate... how his parents kept insisting it was Star Trek. Aaron even did the Scottish accents.. it was rather cute.

When I handed him the photo I wanted autographed, he asked me if anyone ever started singing that song when they met me. I told him yes, that guys seem to think it's cool to request Angie upon finding out that my name is... Angie. He asked me if that worked and I told him no... as it's rather unimaginative. He then thanked me for providing some insight into women. I should have told him that no.. as a dedicated tomboy and geek... I am in no way representative of women in general.

Joe Flanigan:
There was a very annoying handful of people asking relationship questions and being a bit rude about it. Some of it regarding Shep's attraction to the Ancient women and Weir... and Teyla and some of it slash related. I think he was getting a little pissed off... at least I know I was. According to Beanie, when she went up on Day 3 to ask a question she was warned not to make it a relationship one. Don't even ask what the specific questions were because I don't remember. I think my mind automatically went "la la la, I can't hear you".

Apparently Joe really is shy. He mentioned that he'd drop a class in college if it required any kind of public speaking. I don't remember what he said about how that changed though. That's probably part of the reason that he doesn't have any kind of preamble like most of the other guests and goes right to audience questions. Actually I think someone asked about that too because he mentioned that the things he'd talk about are rather controversial. This of course caught my attention because given his notion about the Hero and the Hero's Journey, I think I'd like to hear his views on other things as well. ::sigh:: The more I see of this guy the more I lustlike him.

When he went up in the F-16, they'ed gotten as far as the runway when the jet broke down. So here he is in full flight gear and pressure suit in a nearly hermetically sealed, cramped cockpit in the desert sun for... I think he said an hour before the flight crew came and got him and the pilot. It was about another 3 hours before he got to go up and hit 9 G's.... lucky bastard. Of course by that time he'd had lunch and promptly lost it at some point during the flight. Oh what I wouldn't give to do the same... well, maybe not the vomiting part. That, I could do without. Oh! And they had inked his name on the co-pilot's side of the fusilage... and when they had to change planes... they put it on the new one! How cool is that to get your own personalized aircraft?! What?! I'm a geek with a major jet aircraft fetish... sue me.

Joe still wants to do the orignal story he pitched - the one where John and Rodney find a cache of ZedPM's and go drunk with the power of it. And I think he's still trying to do some writing for the show, but as he said, it's really difficult to find an original twist to the usual Sci-Fi cliche's that SG-1 HASN'T done already.

Apparently the cast gets a short intro to weaponry so they look like they know what they're doing when handling the P-90's, Barretta's and so on. Joe wasn't sure if he should take it as a compliment when the weapons guy said he was a natural. I think he said he'd grown up with guns and then immediately cautioned everyone that, no... that doesn't mean he's a gun nut.. and not every American is a gun nut. I think he also mentioned that he has a gun or two at home now and if his kid shows interest in them when he gets older, he'll teach him the proper use and respect of them. Smart man. I knew where dad's rifles where and I think I came across the ammo at different times, but all of us kids knew not to mess with them. It was so much easier to take a length of string and a pocket knife into the woods and make bows and arrows to shoot at each other.

Not long after the gun thing, someone asked about Shep's dual personality of Dork and Professional Scary Bastard. This seemed to surprise him as he didn't think Shep was a dork nor scary... I think he said that Rodney was the dork in the show (actually, I think they all of their moments). However, he did say that McKay was gaining on the heroic qualities and at some point their paths may cross with Rodney becoming the cool, gun toting guy while John is the uber-dork. Which is fine... but please don't let Rodney go the way of Daniel... I love my geeky dork.

Ivy Isenberg:
Hyper.... that's all there is to say about her. I can't even remember anything about her but constant, unrelenting movement.

All in all, I had a great time and while I haven't yet bought my Peg 2 tickets... that may happen in the very near future. I wasn't sure about the whole thing at the start and it was rather disorganized, but it was a lot more 'real' than last year's Creation con. So, if by some weird chance David, David and/or Paul (and the rest of the cast as well... the more the merrier!) are reading this... I think ya'll would enjoy this convention as you're allowed far more interaction with the fans... of course that may also be a bad thing.
