So.

I don't think I got the job.

To catch everybody up, a few weeks ago I applied for a Maintenance Technician position with a solar panel manufacturer that's moving into the area. They responded a few days later with a 'sorry we don't have any appropriate positions for you". I replied that I thought they were wrong and that I was qualified to do the work. Got a phone call a few days later from the engineering director and had an impromptu phone interview with a promise of an in person interview with himself and one of the site's engineers as soon as he was back in town.

Today was that day.

I think I did impress them a little. I asked some insightful questions about their downtime requirements for preventative maintenance and I touched on how I had to make do to keep things running at the paper.... but I don't feel like I came across as a hard charging, go-getter technician.

Still, this may be premenstrual depression talking and I did better than I think. Towards the end they did ask about my shift preferences, how soon I could come to work and if I would be able to take off to San Jose for three weeks minimum to shadow the maintenance team at the main plant. I presume that kind of thing would be asked of any candidate though so who knows.

If I don't get it, I don't know what I'll do. The end of the rope is starting to come into view. I didn't get money for the summer semester so its been rough the last few months. I finally got the ball rolling on getting mortgage payment assistance.... just in time to avoid foreclosure due to non-payment since I have no money to pay for both my house and utilities. And I still need to go apply for food stamps.

One way or the other things will get a little better next month. Either I'll be employed as a technician or I'll be back in school with a boost of student loan money. But right now, things kind of suck.
