I hope someone on my f-list can answer.
Isn't there an LJ comm where artists can provide artwork as prompts for someone else to write a story? AND/OR one for people to drop off a barebone idea for a story for someone more talented to write?
Many many years ago, the night skies over the western hemisphere lit up like the end of the world, followed by a soundwave that shook people and buildings to their core. Speculation abounded, but without sophisticated equipment, it was deemed to be another Tunguska type event. Two years later, the 'postcards' started showing up and people started disappearing.
I had imagined this to be our crew, minus a Sheppard or McKay... likely McKay and instead of escaping with Atlantis to another planet, they managed to get themselves stuck back in time on Earth. Without one or the other of the boys, they couldn't account for whatever anomaly did this and now they're bringing in people to help them fix it so they can go back to their time. Which ever one of the boys they're missing, is AU'ed to be on Earth during this time.
I've roughed out what the 'postcard' looks like; one of those 'welcome to florida' things with the big blocky letters and montage of images within each letter. They've rigged the cards with Ancient technology to respond to the gene carriers (Sheppard) or keyed to specific bio-signatures (McKay).
