Theme 1: Freefall, Leeteuk/Kangin
Title: Leadership Privileges
Rating: G
Word Count: 983
Genre: Humour, fluff
Summary: Sometimes, Leeteuk wishes he didn't have to deal with all the 'privileges' that come with being Super Junior's leader - especially in dangerous environments like an indoor playground.
Leeteuk was 99% sure this was all Donghae’s fault. Or at least, 99% of it was Donghae’s fault - the rest was his for never having learnt how to resist giving in the second the younger directed that infamous pout at him. (He really would have to ask Kyuhyun how it was done.)
Still, he reasoned, knowing whose fault it was didn’t exactly help him out of his current predicament. Gulping, he glanced down once more... only to feel that same cold prickle of fear once more. He cast his eyes away, looking at anything other than the free fall below him.
His eyes found Eunhyuk, Ryeowook and Sungmin, who were literally bouncing around in glee, having found the mini trampolines. Heechul and Kyuhyun were nearby, apparently bickering (like a pair of old women, Leeteuk added in his head), and he could have sworn he saw Donghae’s shoe sail through the air. At any rate, everyone seemed to be enjoying the indoor playground they’d rented out for Donghae’s birthday in their own way - except for him.
Well. He had been enjoying it just as much as everyone else, until the younger half of the band ALL ganged up on him, insisting that as leader, it was his duty to try the biggest slide first.
Or maybe they’d said it was a privilege? Either way, Leeteuk not stood alone at the top of the Free Fall, an enormous slide that was the centrepiece of the place - several metres of an almost vertical drop, until it levelled out into a ball pit.
Super Junior’s fearless leader was Not Happy about this. He was fairly sure he faced certain death if he went down and abject humiliation if he refused, and quite frankly, he wasn’t sure which was worse.
Suddenly, he heard steps behind him, and turned just as Kangin appeared at the top of the steps.
Super Junior’s fearless leader was now speechless as well as terrified.
“You know Teukie, I used to come here all the time when I was younger,” Kangin began with a conversational tone. “I’ve been on this slide before, and it’s really not that bad.” Leeteuk just glared at him.
“Not that bad?! That doesn’t really reassure me,” he bit out in reply.
Kangin thought for a moment, before saying, “Actually, I remember seeing these kids before who were a bit scared, but still wanted to go on it. They’d always get their parents to lower them over the edge by their hands to make the drop shorter the first time. Then the parents would drop them-” at that, Leeteuk’s face went pure white before turning an interesting shade of green in the space of about a second, so Kangin quickly backtracked - “I mean, let them fall - slide! Let them slide down the rest of the way.”
To say Leeteuk looked unconvinced was both unsurprising and an understatement.
“Let me guess,” he cut in. “You want to play at being a parent, and throw me over the edge TO MY DEATH.”
Kangin looked nothing short of scandalised. “For one thing,” he retorted, “both of us may as well already be parents, given the amount of children we have together. Second, I wouldn’t throw you, I’d only be letting you fa- SLIDE down the rest of the way. And to the ball pit, not to your death!” Seeing that Leeteuk’s expression hadn’t changed, he sighed, then switched tactics. “If you want, I could go first. Might make it seem less daunting.”
For a moment, Leeteuk looked extremely tempted, but he shook his head. “You can’t - the kids - I mean, the others, they’d never let me live it do-AHH!” He broke off with a shout as Yesung materialised beside them, seemingly from nowhere. He and Kangin both jumped about a foot in the air... but unfortunately Kangin had moved a lot closer to the edge when he’d offered to go first.

Several hours and an emergency room later, Leeteuk was getting a stern lecture from their manager about his leadership responsibilities - which apparently included the prevention of all possible injury from any bandmates standing beside him who had the potential to do something incredibly stupid.
That didn’t mean he was entirely listening, though. He was vaguely aware of phrases such as, “a miracle he didn’t break anything,” and, “any idea how much make-up we’ll have to use to cover the bruises?!” washing over his ears, but mostly he was just relieved Kangin was still there at his side (getting the same lecture on the grounds that he should know better than to fall headfirst down any kind of slide, let alone one that massive).
His already wandering attention was completely diverted when Kangin muttered to him, “This is why Yesung isn’t the other parent, even if he’s older than me. Far too irresponsible.”
“You’re one to talk about being irresponsible,” Leeteuk hissed back. “And what about Heechul and Hankyung? They’re older too!” Kangin just gave him a look, and Leeteuk flinched. “Okay, I see your point.”
Kangin hesitated for a moment, before adding with a smirk, “Besides, no one else could put up with being married to you!”
Leeteuk’s squeak of outrage was drowned by the manager, who’d finally noticed they were paying even less attention than usual to the lecture, asking loudly, “And what do you have to say for yourselves?!”
Without hesitating, Leeteuk blinked up at him innocently and replied, “Blame Donghae. He gave us the kicked puppy - well, no, the fish eyes! What were we supposed to do, refuse?”
Their manager stared for a moment, before deciding it wasn’t worth it. He rubbed his temples and wondered if he should ask his boss if he could be transferred to SHINee.
(This turned out to be a Bad Idea. Dealing with Super Junior’s insanity was one thing... having to chaperone Key on a shopping trip was much, MUCH scarier.)
