One of the things that is so great about MacDonald Hall as a fandom for me, specifically, is that it is totally plausible for me to just set stories in the places I know, since MacDonald Hall itself is more or less in my 'hood. (Yeah, I'll stop using that phrase now.) And there is every indication that the guys themselves could be from Ontario also, and so if I want to write a post-Hall story where I send them to Trent University and make them live in my old dorm, I can do that. (I have not yet written that story, but it's all laid out in my head.)
And if I want to write a story where Bruno's family has a summer cottage in Port Stanley, and Boots is visiting for the summer, I can do that, too. And Diane's family lives in London, and Cathy is visiting her, and they come out to see the guys, and then the guys go back with them for a day, and hit up Home County or Sunfest, and then Diane takes Boots shopping at Masonville while Cathy talks Bruno into getting his eyebrow pierced. And then the guys go back to Port Stanley, and Boots teaches Bruno how to swim, and they laze about being beach bums unsupervised, because Bruno's parents have to work and can only come up on the weekends. And lovey fun sexytimes with Bruno and Boots!
Which is what I was thinking about yesterday while I lazed about on my back deck instead of going to the beach myself. Yay, MacDonald Hall!

In other news, I went to Whitehorse! It was awesome to see Tina and her kids, and though there were definitely stressful moments (bound to happen in a household with four children under the age of twelve), it was overall relaxing. I will maybe get it together to say actual things about things (like how the Calgary airport during Stampede - or maybe always - is a sea of cowboy hats), but for the time being, how about a picture? As always, there are tons more at my
Flickr.
This view is from the little park that is a two-minute walk from Tina's house. Just out of frame to the right is downtown Whitehorse. Crazy!
Ages 11, 4, 2, and 9.
