(no subject)
Okay. 2.5 days later, I am finally feeling somewhat functional again. I even left the house! I went to the bank and the post office and the grocery store, go me! It turns out that I did not forget how to drive a stick shift in the past two weeks, which is of the good. Also of the good: LUGGAGE. It arrived yesterday around 5:00 p.m., huzzah!
Trip report will come later, once I muddle through my pictures and upload them and whatnot, but what I want to talk about right now are SeSa and Yuletide, and how I absolutely made out like a bandit in terms of stories received!
For MTYG, I received the completely amazing How JC Escaped from Planet Sequin and Got His Groove Back, which is TOTALLY FABULOUS and I love it SO MUCH. JC loses his music, gains a mysterious glitter affliction, and Chris comes to fix it. With BONUS AWESOME LANCE. It is seriously wonderful, and I am so grateful for it, and also feel very guilty because I totally did not earn it! I had to drop out of SeSa at the last minute, because I SUCK, despite the above-and-beyond efforts of the admins to try and accommodate me. So I have much of the guilt, but the love of this story trumps it, because it is AWESOME. ♥
And then I got not one but TWO awesome MacDonald Hall stories for Yuletide!! The More Things Change by innervoice_chan is Bruno and Boots through the years, with the evolution of Bruno's particular genius leading to the inevitable (Canadian parliament). With BONUS AWESOME CATHY. And then A Terrible Wonderful Brunoish Idea by marginaliana is also Bruno and Boots through the years, but entirely different, with the evolution of Bruno's particular genius leading to the inevitable (MARRIAGE)!!! They are both so wonderful, and I belove them! ♥♥
And I sucked far less at Yuletide than at SeSa, and managed to get my story in (hours ahead of time, even) without undue panic or self-loathing, which was a first. I wrote Days Like These for katja, about five shifts that AJ and Debra work together at Empire Records. I'm really pleased at the response it's gotten, especially considering that I had no idea what I was doing when I wrote it, and for some reason set it in the POV of arguably my least favourite character in the entire movie. So that is a yay.
Anyway, plan for the rest of the day: read more stories, start in on pictures, maybe do laundry, fortify self for return to work tomorrow.
