big gay bandom post

My favouritest offonmars asked me to make a post about bandom, and this is that post.

So I'm not really in bandom, except for sort of tangentially, because my favourite bandom band is sort of not actually a bandom band? All-American Rejects are my favourite, but they sort of seem to be like 98 Degrees was in popslash. Or maybe LFO. In terms of fandom attention, not musicality. ANYWAY, they're sort of the ignored ones, maybe because they're a bit more mainstream than some of the others? Although FOB is pretty mainstream. Or possibly because Pete Wentz has never expressed a desire to make out with any of them (that I know of).

Speaking of Pete Wentz, let's start with Fall Out Boy. I like Fall Out Boy well enough, I'm usually pretty happy when their songs come up on my iPod. I went to see them in November when they came to town. I think Patrick Stump is sort of cute, even though he totally reminds me of a guy I went to public school with who was creepy and weird and had a crush on me. I do not like Pete Wentz, and I don't get the fascination with him. He's one of those people where I don't get what other people find hot about him. Except for Ashlee Simpson, who is pretty hot. I kind of like vegan Andy, and Joe Trohman was fun to watch on stage. I don't usually look at the pictures of FOB that get linked on my friends list, because they're usually linked with squeeful text about Pete Wentz's incredible hotness, which, again, I don't get. I'm really not very interested in fic about them, but I have read the occasional Pete/Patrick (yes, I know).

Moving on to Panic at the Disco. Or Panic! at the Disco, which I do actually prefer, but whatever. Panic is on about equal footing with FOB, as far as me liking their songs. FOB may have a tiny edge, just because Panic's songs are sometimes so weird, but it's not a big edge. And Panic definitely has the edge in terms of my interest in their individual persons. I even have a proper ranking of favouritism! It goes like so: 1. BrendonJon, 2. Spencer, 4. Ryan Ross. I also don't get the Ryan Ross thing. Basically, I think both Brendon Urie and Jon Walker are adorable about 90% of the time, Spencer Smith is adorable about 50% of the time, and I've found Ryan Ross adorable exactly twice, both in the 'Nine In The Afternoon' video. Also, my cousin married someone with the last name Urie, and they are real estate agents, and I will not lie, I spent some time in Oklahoma staring at their car and trying to work out a non-weird way to ask for a Team Urie bumper sticker of my own (I couldn't think of one, and therefore I am Team Urie bumperstickerless). ANYWAY, excepting AAR, who may or may not be an actual bandom band, Panic is my favourite bandom band. I would definitely go see them if they played in London, and I might even go see them in Toronto, maybe. I don't read fic about them very often, because nobody will write the things that I want to read (bottom!Jon, so unloved!), but I usually do go and look at the pictures when people post/link to them. Look, I'll even post a couple of (old) pictures myself:

Ahahaha, Brendon Urie! So funny, omg. I almost made an icon of this picture, but I couldn't get it to come out right. Also, Jon Walker, how so adorable?!

Look how cute! I know this is an old picture, but I still don't believe that Jon Walker wants to kill Brendon or kick him out of the band or anything. Look how cuddly!

Okay, who else can I talk about? Oh, My Chemical Romance. I feel better about MCR than I did like, a year ago, but I'm still pretty meh about the whole thing. It's not. I. See, the first time I heard 'The Black Parade' on the radio, I listened intensely, because I knew so many people were all OMGOMGOMG about it, and then I heard it and I was like, "um, SERIOUSLY? THIS is the new saviour? What?!" and then I laughed a lot. And I think the thing for me with MCR is that they are sort of a really heavily emotional band, with the angst and the uplifting the downtrodden or whatever, and that's really awesome to have, except that I've already had it with Pearl Jam and Marilyn Manson, and so I don't need it from MCR, and so I don't really get them. (Please note that my interpretation of MCR's musical mission is totally based on the three songs of theirs that I have ever heard, and is probably totally and completely wrong.) ANYWAY, I do like that one "I am not afraid to keep on living" song, and I sometimes think that Frank is hot, but mostly I think that he should wash his hair, rinse, and repeat. I don't get the Mikey Way thing. I do think that Gerard Way is a little bit hot, but ONLY when he's got dark hair, because when he was blond he reminded me immensely of Billy Corgan, who I hate. I mostly don't click on links to pictures of MCR, and I don't think I've ever read a story about them. I would probably go see them if they came to London.

All of the other bandom bands kind of mesh together in my head and I can't keep them straight. William Beckett is lovely to look at, and The Academy Is's music is pretty inoffensive to listen to. That Travis guy is also pretty nice to look at, and I think he's in either Cobra Starship or Gym Class Heroes. And I think Vicky T. is in the other band? I would probably be willing to see any of them if they played in London, even though I don't know who any of them are.

And now, let's talk some more about All-American Rejects, yay! I love them SO MUCH. I love them so much that I even joined the fan club. Their songs are so much fun, and they fill me all up inside my chest with happiness! Shall we talk order of favouritism? I think we shall. 1. NICK WHEELER, OMG ♥!!!, 2. Tyson Ritter, 3. MikeandChris. Yesterday, Mike would have been 3 and Chris would have been 4, but then yesterday I watched the Lost In Stillwater thing, which made me love Chris, while I don't remember Mike saying much of anything. But really, I'm mostly all about Nick Wheeler. Who is ADORABLE. Especially when combined with Tyson Ritter. That is also my slash pairing of choice, and I wish with all my heart that more people would write it. Or that certain writers would write it more often. Or that Nick and Tyson themselves would come to my house and act some out for me. And then make out with me. You know. I would ABSOLUTELY go to see them if they ever came back to London, and I would definitely be willing to go to Toronto if they went there instead. And now a lot of pictures, because I LOVE THEM.

NICK WHEELER, I LOVE YOUR FACE!

Nick Wheeler!

Nick plays guitar!

Nick Wheeler is such a MUPPET! And Mike Kennerty knows it.

Nick Wheeler has interesting hair! And Tyson sings!

TOUCHING!

Tyson and Nick were high school sweethearts BFFs!

Tyson Ritter has very intense eyebrows.

Nick Wheeler: Property of Tyson Ritter.

Band! They have matching tattoos! Except for not that guy in the back who is not Chris Gaylor. But everyone except that guy and plus Chris Gaylor, matching tattoos!

I kind of can't handle Nick Wheeler in this picture. Tyson is so tall!

Look at the babies! Even Chris looks like he's ten years old. Mike Kennerty is the smilingest boy ever!

And then I made a million caps of the video for 'The Last Song', which I watched a million times yesterday.

Hi, Nick Wheeler!

You are a MUPPET!

Ahahaha, Tyson.

MUPPET!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
