my second post is about perfume and space

I have so much untested BPAL right now, I can't even tell you. Well, I could tell you, but it would involve counting, and I'm not up to complicated math problems right now. I have however, tested some BPAL things in the past couple of weeks that I would like to tell you about.

Glasgow: The rich scent of wild blackberry breezing over gentle rosy heather. I feel fairly neutral about this one. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. It's sort of generic perfume-smelling.

Black Pearl: Evocative of the sea's unplumbed mysteries. Gentle and lovely, but menacing and profound. Coconut, Florentine iris, hazelnut and opalescent white musk. I may have to give this another try, as I suspect that certain other factors such as stress and time of month may have had something to do with how not good this was, but I got nothing but chemical pencil shavings from Black Pearl. Blech.

Snake Oil: By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla. See above re: mitigating factors, but this went on smelling exactly like Imp did, which is to say, it smells like whatever cologne/deodorant/hair product/whatever my uncle Joe uses. It doesn't smell bad, exactly, it's just that I can't get past the uncle Joe scent association. Every now and then I caught a hint of how nice this scent should be, and then it was back to uncle Joe.

Swank: Simply cool, the essence of Lounge: the scent of a crisp pomegranate martini. This was gorgeous for five seconds, and then it went straight to soap. Nicely scented soap, but soap nonetheless. So tragic!

Tombstone: A celebration of one of the first commercially produced perfumes of America's Old West. A rugged, warm blend of vanilla, balsam and sassafras layered over Virginia cedar. I'm not sure what exactly went wrong, but this not only did not make me smell delicious, it put me in an incredibly bad mood for an entire day. It smelled kind of like overly fake-sweet vanilla candle. Of rage.

Brisingamen: A glittering mantle of rich golden notes: five ambers, soft myrtle and apple blossom, myrtle, and carnation. This is gorgeous. I really, really love it. It smells a lot to me like Aureus, but not as aggressive and woodsy. Two thumbs up.

Embalming Fluid: A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon. Some beverage manufacturer, possibly Nestea or Lipton, makes a flavour of iced tea that is green tea with lemon, and Embalming Fluid smells exactly like that. Green iced tea with lemon. I like it.

Baobhan Sith: Grapefruit, white tea, apple blossom and ginger. I don't get anything but grapefruit from this. I like it, but I don't love it.

Katharina: A strong, willful blend with a soft, utterly lovely soul: white musk with a trickle of bright, sharp apricot and orange blossom. I love this so much. It's almost pure apricot on me, which I didn't think I would like, but I love it! Nice and soft and reserved and I will get a large bottle of this. Mmmm.

I got more BPAL today. And I think I will get some tomorrow, too. Gah.
