I've been clearing out the raised beds on either side of the patio lately - for reference, anyone planning to use a gravel mulch wants to lay it on top of a membrane, and anyone considering invasive perennials may wish to reconsider - and there's an amazing amount of junk down there. First up, I found what I think is the retaining wall for another, smaller raised bed inside the main one. I'll try to get it up, because it looks like nice stone setts. Then I found an amazing assortment of general rubbish: broken bottle glass, bits of plastic, wall-plug thingies, and a huge wingnut. Finally, I found a mysterious pottery object: rounded on top, and plunging straight down, about 2" across, and I chased the line of it to a right-angle corner. Then, following the new line, I found the overflow. There's half a goddamn kitchen sink in the bed!
