I'm somewhere between Christian and lapsed. I am not actively religious, I am not actively seeking out a church, I am so far from evangelical it isn't even funny, I am very uncomfortable with a lot of the language that many Christians use in regard to women but especially relationships. I am not ok with servitude.

I've been talking with Mark a lot lately (he just got out of a "Christian relationship") and a lot of the things that he says now make me wildly uncomfortable (and do show that breaking up was definitely the right decision.) We were talking about the high divorce rate amongst my married classmates and his response was "Well, the spouse should see these stressful times as an opportunity to serve." And, in general, I think that's bullshit. Yes, the spouse should be supportive, but if you've married before coming here you're obligated to support your non-school spouse, too. It can't be all get get get and no give.

Also, I'm regularly astonished by the hypocrisy in a lot of the vocal Christians that I meet. They also throw around words like "sin" and "trust" with no apparent understanding, and as a way to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. They were led into sin, they didn't just do something wrong, etc.

And while I know that God is a loving God and cares about me, I don't think he's really invested in the day to day details of my life. He doesn't care what I get on my Anatomy exam, you know?

So, I've been sort of rambling, but if you want anything more specific, let me know! I'm happy to explain what I believe and think as long as nobody's trying to change my mind.

Oh, and, my opinion on religion and relationships is this:

My religion is between me and God, not me and you and God.
