So I found out that Michael Jackson died today. Now, he may not have been the most popular guy because of the controversy that he had gotten wrapped up in later on in his career; but I don't care what you say- he was still one of the most influential musical artists of the 20th century and will remain in peoples hearts and minds. Sure some will keep his shortfalls at the forefront of their minds, but I fully believe that history will remember Jackson as a fantastic musician and just as good as a performer. That is how I will remember him- with my gold-plated limited edition "Thriller" album (I got it a few years ago as a birthday gift) and cheezy Daft Punk remixes.
So here's whats up.
Omi and I are getting an apt together for the interim time until we move down to AL together. Decent deal. Its a 1.5 bedroom guest house with living room, full kitchen, attic, and office area that serves as the extra .5 bedroom. Its $175/wk ($700/month) plus heat and elect. Everything else is included. Not bad for the 6 months we have left in New England.
I was officially accepted to UA last friday, with roughly $40,000 in compensation (about half of that take home after tuition and health benni's) which is actually pretty good for a grad school and pretty good for the area as well. As above, I'll be starting in the spring semester which isn't a huge deal. Mom still doesnt want me to accept, because she thinks I can do better. Maybe. We'll see.
The Mills is going well. My partner and I are making fantastic headway on our project. I'd say more, but thats kind of illegal. Oops, lol!
Other than that, I miss my goth scene crew! We'll have to have a SMALL housewarming gathering to get the new place underway. My nights consist of "normnal" things like reading, and excersizing (I liked it better when my excersize was TANZ!)[dance for those of you who dont know German- shame on you!]. DeMolay remains my night out, which is some benefit at least.
Which brings me to my last point...which none of you will properly understand the pure awesomeness of this fact until you fully understand the weight of this situation. And even then, youd have to know the Order of DeMolay and my story within it to get the "ah hah!" of it all.
I WAS ELECTED TO BECOME A RECIPIENT OF THE DEGREE OF CHEVALIER!!!!!
This degree is the highest honor that an active or senior DeMolay can receive for his "outstanding labors for the Order of DeMolay." This honor was given to me by the International Supreme Council, the governing body of the order. Five years after my term as SMC, I still hold a little flame with the people at DI. Wow. Intense. Epic even. Yes, this situation is actually worthy of saying "epic" in the non-lame sense. Yes, there is a difference.
Thank you all for being a part of my life, now and in the future.
