tribblecat for various good reasons, drove a friend's things out to Pennsic. (One of these years we'll go ourselves, and stay, and all that, but anyway...) On the way home, he and
wldrose, who was with him, pulled off Rt 80 to change drivers, adjust seats, etc. He said it was a little abandoned spot, sort of a rest area with nothing in it, with a place to park and a few pickups etc., but no buildings. No house or barn within sight.
And there, under one of the trucks, was a kitten. Who was soon trotting out to them, and being all affectionate, and jumping into the car...
The first I knew, the phone rang, and he asked me if I thought Zane would like a kitten! (Um, probably not, but he doesn't make all the decisions in this household...)
She's a little calico. Hungry, but not starved, and there's been enough rain. Seems healthy, probably just about weaned and ready to leave her mama. Maybe three pounds, wringing wet. Very sweet and affectionate. And playful. Don't forget playful.
Zane has been very good. He pointed out that we don't need a kitten, but has been nice to her. He's now reduced to complaining that she tags after him and plays with his tail... He's poked her a few times, but very lightly, just a gentle bat (which she, of course, takes as play! So she bats back. This confuses him.)
