I had my first patient on Friday! She was a sweet little latina lady, and I didn't really do much except her blood pressure and watch soap operas. (She likes General Hospital, which, if you have to choose, is by far the best soap opera.) She was the perfect first patient though- extremely cooperative and supportive. Her story is sad, though. That's the shitty part about hospitals. Lots of sick people.
I played my first open mic in awhile on Friday. It went ok. And by ok I mean not so good. I played a new song-which was really only one day old- to a mixed response from the crowd. And then I sort of forgot the words to a Jack Johnson song. Who does that? My voice only fucked up once though, and it wasn't as catastophic as at the Berg show. I got my Guitar Fretboard workbook in the mail last week, so hopefully I'll be cranking out some new tunes. I need inspiration too, which is almost as big of a problem as not being as good at guitar as I would like to be. Life here is, for the most part, good. It's fun, but no euphoria, and it's hard to write compelling lyrics about life being "mostly fun." No inspiration in the love department either. To sum up that part of my life in a breif scenario:
I went to a stoplight party this weekend (wear green if you're single, yellow if you're not sure, red if you're taken) dressed in a bright green tanktop, sure that it would be a great place to meet people. Nope. Practically everyone was wearing red, if not that, yellow. In the words of Beth Funnell, "Dang it!"
I went to Campus Chapel for church on Sunday. I actually liked it. Except when my cell phone went off. Then I felt like a huge jerk.
Saw "Varsity Blues" last night during Movie Night. It was really good. And we had the biggest turnout for movie night yet!
Two exams next week, and I've barely started my homework.
