I am amused by the fact that my flights have been delayed more frequently in the spring and summer than they were in the winter. I'm currently sitting in the airport waiting for my 8:00 flight to depart (current delayed departure time is 9:35).
So, change in plans! I won't have the whole day to hang out in Amish country today, boo. However, I should still get there in plenty of time to go fabric shopping. On the agenda is the wool shop where I got the great lightweight yellow tabby. I want to get some blue this time for the Mark II particolored cotehardie. I might make that one the heraldic one, or I might just do it particolored. We'll see. I also want to hunt around and see if I can retrace my steps to the fabric store where I purchased that amazing lightweight madder-colored wool twill. I'm sure they don't have that color anymore, but I did see a number of other nice colors there and the prices were very good.
This is assuming, of course, that I get to PA before 5 PM. :-) If not, there's always tomorrow!
I do note that I find Change in Plans! far less stressful than Mirabel vs. the Universe. Probably because most of the time, Change in Plans! doesn't require me to do things twice. :-)
Cotehardie journal, chapter the next:
I've embarked now on reading Textiles and Clothing in preparation for my fabric purchases. I note that at least some of the tabletwoven edging in the book (which is 1:1 in the photo) appears to be approximately the same weight as 30/2 silk. So, using my preferred 4 cards should yield a very distinct and elegant border on the sleeves and wherever else I decide to put it. :-)
I'm leaning towards making a pouch with tabletwoven edging to go with this whole ensemble, constructed similarly to the ones pictured in the Merode altarpiece, Textiles & Clothing and Textile Conservation and Research. So, tassels, tabletweaving, fingerlooping and glass beads for all! I'm leaning towards making the body out of the madder-colored wool twill, since it's such an amazing fabric. I plan to put a couple of belt hangers on my tabletwoven belt for holding it without scrunching the belt up.
