New-computer enacted a dramatic death scene @ about 4:30 this morning:
Power down! to attract attention.
Loud popping noise! to shock and alarm.
Crackle and smell of burning! just to rub in how thoroughly you have just been fucked.
Am now on old-computer, and fervently hoping it doesn't suicide in solidarity. Also, feeling inappropriately smug because see, Dad, I was totally right to keep them both, because of shit like this.
Cross your fingers that it's an easy fix like the power supply and not something with the hard drive.
