Flight Delayed
Well, as promised, I'm updating LJ while on my trip to Philippines to let people know how I'm doing. At Sea-Tac Doubletree Hotel right now as my flight was supposed to be at 12am last 'night' / morning, then was delayed to 1, then sometime before 2am, then 9am due to airplane maintenance issues. Turns out it was delayed until 4pm PST, and now they're giving us lunch and dinner vouchers since we aren't leaving now until 7PM with a NEW plane! As long as it doesn't fall apart during my 16-hour flight, I think I'll be alright.
The poor airline people had to put up with a billion passenger complaints, as you can imagine, and first started out handing off soda, juice, water etc. to everyone with a boarding pass, one per pass. A random filipino guy thought he could get away with 2-3 more than he should have, and threw a fit when he couldn't get the 'little extra'. It's people like that who give the Philippines its current state, imo...a little extra turns into a lot quickly. Maybe it's just me, but it just bothers me when I see people try and milk too much off of others' graciousness.
One of the stewardesses or whatever thanked me for being the 'passenger with the least complaints'. LOL... with 50+ other people complaining, I didn't personally think it'd be productive to wait in line for 15 minutes just to throw a bitchfit responded to by an apology; there was really nothing they could do, and it won't autofix the plane. Just called my aunt who was picking me up, and that's that. Besides, I get to charge my Zune and read some more--I've got the SAS Survival Guide, a book of random 'did you know' stuff from Barnes and Noble, and Vampire Hunter D novels from Chrissy.
Regardless, I'm still feeling decent as long as I get to pick up sum it is a delicious pineappel caek in Taipei (one of my stops). I must eat it.
Here's a little background on why I'm going back:
Besides going every 2-3 years to the Philippines, my parents intend on adopting my little cousin whose mother (my aunt) has breast cancer--the way it's looking, they probably won't get her until 4-5 years or so from now. So I have to appear in court to basically just tell the judge/attorneys that my parents aren't absolutely terrible people and that I get along with her well. But either way, that's fine...she's a good kid, about twelve currently. Even though I'm an only child, I'm not so selfish to want everything to myself.
So there you have it. To everyone I haven't seen in awhile, hello!
I'll update you again once I find an intarwebz cafe in the Philippines. There are plenty there, last time I checked with everyone and their mother playing RO and CS. If anybody wants anything from here, let me know! There is a lot of neat imports...and stuff.
