In a deposition taken last week in Los Angeles, singer Michael Bolton denied using the title "Godfather of Soul" in promotional literature. The title, Bolton claimed, was "Godfather of Seoul" and referred to sales of his albums in South Korea.
The suit was brought by 'the hardest working man in show business', James Brown, after seeing copies of Bolton press releases containing the dubious misprint. The judge in the case ordered that lawyers for the two sides meet privately to discuss the matter. When asked for an assessment of how the first meeting went, James Brown replied, "I feel good!" then spun about and did a split.
