Return of the RPG

Lately, I've been playing a LOT of retro-styled Final Fantasy games. I got Dawn of Souls a couple of months ago, and I beat FFI, but not completely, and I'm still chugging through FFII. Good stuff. Weird-ass system.

And then with my last paycheck, along with that modem, I got Final Fantasy IV Advance. I'm amazed at this game. There are a few problems, such as the utter lack of a map. >_<

Also, I got spoiled by DoS's save-anywhere feature. FFVI returns to the "only at save points" concept. However, it does feature a one-load quicksave that you can utilize if you have to stop for some reason and you aren't near a point. (Like, for instance, if you are on a break and need to go back in the middle of the Tower of Babel.)

In any case, I was okay with it when I played the Chronicles version (currently missing) but I didn't get as far as I have with this now.Last time, I think I beat Calcobrina and stopped. This time, I'm a little farther on, of course, I'm on ToB.

All of this, of course, masks the fact that I've gone back into "rut-mode" as far as creativity is concerned.
However, my work shift is changing to allow me to interact with my family, and participate in things at different times, so this may change soon. I do, as usual, have a few running ideas that require putting pencil to paper, and I have to stop being so lazy and actually put them down before they run away from me like the wicked imps they are.

gba, gaming, procrastination, retro, final fantasy, work
