The last dream of the morning is traditionally the most vivid. This morning was no exception. I was in the house where I grew up...well sort of. The back yard was the same, but I think the area of the playroom was what it is today - my sister's bedroom. However, the family room was more like a work space. I was trying to delete pages on a pdf, but my computer looked almost like a bank's atm. And the pdf? Sheesh, all I wanted was to delete a few pages, but the system kept mangling the thing, so I never saved it. (Interesting, I wonder if that was reflective of the problems I had merging genealogy databases yesterday???)
Anyway, I was looking out the back window at the full moon, low in the eastern horizon. As I watched, it was no longer a moon, but a series of lights - a lot like the snowflakish pattern I saw in the window on the way home tonight. Or maybe a very small Chinese checkers game. I knew instantly it was a UFO and was thinking loudly "how very cool". Then is passed over the house, turning from lights to a stealth plane to what looked like the back of a pick-up truck and landed in the back yard. It was TINY. A woman introduced herself, then a man, both looking in their twenties. The woman appeared to have stepped out of the ship, but I'm not sure where the guy came from. I didn't care. This was so very very cool.
They mentioned I was known among the riders club. Oh that made me happy. Many on earth were known as potential riders. Neat. I guessed they'd heard me mentally calling. I stepped onto the rectangular floor looking more like a living room than anything else, with neither wall nor roomf I didn't care. The women had stepped carefully, as if through a door. I just walked on, as if through a wall.
We were flying. I remained in the living-room, looking forward at what appeared to be the front of a car, again with no clear roof or front window. The couple was sitting and driving, a friend from church was sitting in what on a plane would have been the jump seat. I asked her if she was coming along, but she indicated they were dropping her off.
I was waking now. The day was starting. My friend was gone. I asked the couple for the truth. What did they really look like and why was I really here. They answered - food. (A friend told me the night before about watching he favorite Twilight Zone episode. You guessed it, "To Serve Man".) I was almost fully awake now, but my last dreamlike thought was asking these two beings, now a cross between vegetation and Cousin It "well, can we fly by the sun and through the solar system first?" I was too awake to hear their answer. I hope it was yes.
P.S. I've learned over the decades that science fiction dreams usually indicate stress. Probably. I have to put away genealogy for awhile and start working on patient safety. That made me sad and I'm hip deep in the transition and filing. But what a cool birthday present. The opportunity to get into space. Even if it was going to be a short flight.
