Don't End Too Soon

It’s Wednesday and Ryan takes his lunch break. Having a headache from work, he goes to the local coffee shop. Ordering a large caffeinated coffee, Ryan scopes out for a seat. He sees a dark haired man in shady sunglasses taking a seat by the far window. The man takes his glasses off and those chocolate eyes belong to the one and only Brendon Urie. He looks about as tired as Ryan feels.

“Brendon?” Ryan asks.

He looks up and a small smile appears on his face.

“Take a seat,” Brendon offers, so he does.

“Where have you been?” Ryan asks, casually trying not to sound desperate for an answer.

“Work is killing me. I swear if I didn’t need this job to survive I would quit,” Brendon replies.

“What do you do?”

“I work as a magazine editor.”

“You obviously don’t learn anything from it,” Ryan teases.

“Hey!” Brendon objects.

Ryan laughs but continues his original thought.

“At least that sounds more exciting than selling life insurance policies.”

Brendon laughs at this and Ryan rolls his eyes but does a secret happy dance at hearing him laugh. Brendon did look really worn out.

Just then Brendon’s phone rings. He opens it up and it reads:

From Jon:

Your lunch was over 5 minutes ago. You better bring everybody coffee to save your ass.

“Shit,” Brendon groans.

“What happened?”

“My lunch break is past over. I have to get a million coffees now. I’m sorry for not showing up at The Club. I’ve been opting for sleep. Gimme your phone, I’ll give you my number.”

“I don’t know why we didn’t do that sooner,” Ryan says as he fishes his phone out of his pockets.

Ryan holds the door opens for Brendon after he orders his large amount of coffee. They bid each other goodbye and head their separate ways.
