both of mine were pierced at 14g. they're both now at 10g. with the intent of one day being 6 or 4g. the stretch to 12g was nothing. 10g wasn't much more difficult. but that all depends on your pain tolerance. stretching cartilage is just a bolt of lightning and then it's gone. at least, to me.

would you say it hurts about as much as getting it pierced again? does it hurt for months? haha. these were some of the worst piercings for me, i'm kind of nervous that i'll end up sleeping on my arm for a few months again.

i guess it depends on the person. i always stretch after a shower. it feels like 'OMGMYEARISONFIRE' for about a millisecond and then it goes away [like said bolt of lightning]. when i stretched to 10g, i went out for the night and totally forgot that i even stretched them until someone asked me if i put new plugs in. and then of course they hurt if they get hit or you sleep on them wrong. i got to 10g at the end of december and they feel fine now. i plan on going to 8g probably sometime in march.

i suggest sf glass colorfronts. they're the best.

Ohh, I might go and check those out soon. Do they come in smaller sizes? I figured I'd just have to deal with CBRs and barbells until I get to the single digit gauges.

gws colorfronts in 12g are extremely durable [alot of people think because it's only 12g it'll be easier to crack/break/shatter but that's not true. it's pyrex, it's strong and i think you'd have to do a lot of damage to your ear in order to get the glass inside it to break.]

[buying online versus at a shop is definitely going to be cheaper] bodyartforms.com has them [in 12g and 10g] for $18 a pair [before shipping] but you can get them directly from glasswearstudios[.com] for $16 before shipping. both of those sites are awesome to buy from. if you want to buy CBRs and barbells to wear when you want to switch up your jewelry, i suggest buying your metal from BAF because you'll pay way less than if you went to a studio to buy them.

I'm not really a huge fan of glass plugs, tbh. I'd rather just stretch with CBRs and then throw in a single flare eyelet, horn plugs or silicon earskins. I'm gonna have to do some research to figure out how big I can go so I can start ordering different jewelry.

i'd be careful with CBRs. as far as i know, they're horrible to use directly after a piercing, so i would think they would make stretching just as difficult. what if you stretched with a taper and followed with a single flare eyelet? i'm sure earskins are pretty difficult at 10g [the smallest they make them] and i know you should wear silicone until the stretch has healed. so i'm a strong supporter of glass since glass is just.. well. it's awesome. what makes you so anti-glass?
