I haven't been feeling up for writing lately.   maybe it's because I am too relaxed at home, so relaxed that everything seems pointless to write about.  I don't want to spill out every bit of my bland life to you guys.  you've got better things to do than to read what i have to say.  I hardly speak english these days, spend most of the time talking ( Read more... )

"I am afraid losing the ability writing witiful and humorous journals."

You are missing an "of" in there after "afraid". And "to" too, after "ability". And it should be "write" not "writing". Or you could not use "to" and "writing" and just use "of" after "ability", but it sounds dumb that way. "Witiful" is not a word. "Pitiful" though, is a word, and if that's what you meant, then yeah, I can't disagree with that statement. "Witty" is also a word, but I don't think that's what you meant. If it is, then I don't remember you ever being witty. Maybe you just think you are. Or else maybe your vastly superior Chinese wit just goes right over my stupid American brain.

"my oral and verbal english is diminishing by the minute."

Judging by the corrections above, yeah. But that's okay. If you don't know a word, just make it up. Like you did for "witiful". And English is a dumb language anyway. Not sexy, like Chinese.

"it's because i am too carefree right now (aka not doing anything), not enough stirring that forces my inner writing artfulness to come out."

Why wanna do writing? You artist now? Huh? You big time "inner writing"? Hahaha. Write from inner artfulness?

Well, there once was a student who asked a writer (I forgot who, possibly a name you would recognize) how to get ideas or motivation to write something meaningful. The writer suggested that he hang himself in the presence of someone. Then, just as he's about to die, the person should cut him loose. Afterward, he might be able to write something good.

Point being, I guess, motivation for art often comes from pain. If you are not motivated, maybe you should just be happy. Fuck writing.

Or maybe you should just be more observant. Look at things, even ordinary things. Try to take a new angle on something you've seen before. Try to imagine things you haven't seen. Try to see the world from someone else's point of view. Research a topic you don't know much about. Reflect on the bullshit you watched on TV last night. Watch the news. Play devil's advocate. Think about the state of the world, human nature, non-human life, the snake in the garden, the life you take to survive, and shadows you killed in your dreams.

Maybe then you'll have something to write about.

P.S. Leave the fucking snake alone.

do i sound happy? no. i am neither motivated nor happy. carefree does not imply happiness. do you hear the monotone?
thanks for bashing my already bad writing skills.

Carefree does not guarantee happiness, but it does imply it. Carefree means freedom from burden and concerns. Concerns often lead to stress and misery. Freedom from burden is relief. Many people struggle to be carefree. Maybe you mean another word.

Maybe you're not happy because you haven't suffered enough. Just a guess. I wouldn't know.

I don't hear monotone. When I read your writing I hear your actual voice, and your voice is never monotone. It doesn't tap dance on my eardrums either, but it isn't monotone. Maybe you mean to sound bored with life, but you don't convey your discontent very well. It's typical of Internet/text/instant message communication--tone of voice doesn't carry over. That's why they invented smilies. That's why people add little notes after their jokes so people know they're joking.

You're welcome for bashing your writing. You don't seem to think much of my stories either, so we're even. If it makes you feel better, it only applies to your English writing. I can say nothing to your Chinese writing.

If your writing suffers in quality, you at least have the advantage of possessing writing ability in two languages. Somedays, you just gotta take quantity over quality. And really, would you want to trade in your Chinese language ability in order to be able to read "Civilization and Its Discontents"? Or to write good blogs? I hope not.

Instead of "carefree" try "aimless." Maybe that's the more appropriate word.

It's a token of my affection.

I'll let you be there when I hang. Whether you cut the rope or not is up to you.
