I know I don't usually post these type of summaries, but I feel the need to. Just want to document my random weekend...
Friday: Earned day off from school (along with Monday, Wednesday through Friday this week). Spent the day running errands, getting a pedicure and manicure with Jen/Kris/Michelle, the wedding rehearsal and dinner at Nocera's. Mike was nice enough to meet me for dinner (he was my wedding escort) and helped me drop off my car at the hotel for the next night so we wouldn't have to worry about it. The rehearsal/ceremony was Lutheran/Catholic so to quote bridal party members it wasn't a stuffy rehearsal. I was also feeling a bit tired after staying up until 3 a.m. every night that week so I was goofy and silly. The dinner went well, Jen gave us all a monogrammed light blue lunch tote bags and self-made celtic themed jewelry for us to wear for the wedding. They were beautiful! I gave her the surprise bridal shower quilt that I worked on all week with my mom. She seemed to like it (yay!) and the ladies who came over to check it out seemed to approve as well. (*phew!*) Spent the night at Jen and Jim's place along with Mike. Took the hair washing shower to prep for the morning. I slept on her waterbed - which I forgot she had until I sat onto it. *laughs* She gave me another special gift which is gorgeous - a sapphire journey pendent that deepens in color as the gems progress. Amazing!
Saturday - Woke up at 3:45 a.m. to take another shower and get the bride to be ready and awake for the 4:30 a.m. pick up. Got to the salon, met the girls there, got our hair done and some got make up done (the make up lady took a loooong time). We ended up running late so we booked it back to the Aites' house to get ready. The flowers, one bridesmaid, videographer and photographers were already there, so we started scrambling. We got her dressed, then we got dressed. Then it was a blur of pictures, limo driving, and then the wedding (10 a.m.). I remember walking down the aisle and from the bride's side I heard: Beautiful and whoot whoot!, the groom's side: oh my... she has a tattoo! Mierez, my 6 inch tiger tattoo was 100% in view and I was proud if not a little bit self conscious. The ceremony was wonderful, I was/am so happy for Jim and Jen. There was some readings, Briendel sang, unity candle, vows, etc. Not too long of a ceremony, in my opinion just right. :) More pictures after - during which one of Jen's students drove by and went crazy! :D In fact the church was on Main Street in Brockton and the passerby/drivers were quite supportive/funny! Then once the pictures were complete we headed to the reception. More brief pictures, tied up the train, got introduced (the best man was such a nice partner, very easy to get along with!), did my toast (short, sweet but sentimental), best man's toast and then dancing. The food was yummy, although I was still not able to keep my stomach calm (I was sick to my stomach since Thursday - I was stressing in place of Jen stressing - she was as cool as a cucumber!). Tried to visit with folks, spent time chasing around Jen to help her change/remove items. There was a moment that she left the bridal suite and I just couldn't physically get myself up, I was soooo tired! Mike was in there with me and across the way, he also was pretty pooped. As we attempted to head back in Jen needed me for changing into her "going away" dress. We headed back in, they got introduced again, danced to some songs, then the final song "Kiss Me I'm Irish" by Gaelic Storm came on and we all had one last dance. Then folks said good bye and we all headed over to the hotel. I snuck in Godiva chocolates and water into the bridal suite before heading to the lounge for dinner. Mike was kind enough to keep me company, the set up of the bar was weird so we all couldn't sit 100% together. There was a weird painful incident with a friend (which I am sure wasn't on purpose but bugged me so much I had a dream about it Sunday night). I said good bye to Mike and headed up to the room... got into bed around 9, texted folks for a bit (a friend's wife was having contractions), and fell asleep around 11.
Sunday - Woke up at 4:30 a.m. to bring the bride and groom to the airport. Was successful at that and then headed back to the hotel for more sleep. Checked out at noon, went to Jen and Jim's house to drop off their over night bags and pick up Mike's forgotten jacket - found that the spare key didn't work so I had to drag Mrs. Aites over (who had to take care of the dog anyway). Headed home, got home around 2 p.m. dropped off my luggage, and headed out to get some food (since I hadn't eaten since the dinner the previous night) and run an errand for my parents. Got into a car accident. Yes, I am fine. Nope, my car isn't. First of all thank heavens it didn't happen earlier in the week or even the day before, second of all no one was seriously hurt (bumps and bruises). But yeah my car is a "total loss" (just found out about an hour ago). So rental car for 5 days and then I get to figure something out...
So all in all, it was a busy weekend... I am very thankful to Jen and so happy for them. I am appreciative of Mike for being my supportive rock behind me. I am sad for my car.
Oh and I am posting this on LJ and /not/ Facebook and My Space because Mrs. Aites and I talked about it and we are not letting Jen know about the accident until /after/ she gets back from her honeymoon. So please don't say anything over there! Thank you! :)
