Things seem pretty quiet among my tiny circle of friends on livejournal, so I thought I'd ask what everyone was up to.
Whether it's plotting some far-fetched scheme of world domination, teaching midgets to breakdance to acid jazz, finding new and previously unknown ways to lower your Purity test score (buying suction pumps on ebay doesn't count, Sloan), or something in between, I want to hear about it, no matter how mundane it may seem to be.
On my side, beyond work, working out, my side job, and continuing to work on the recording of the Nebulous demo, things are pretty quiet here.
I think I may switch to outdoor forms of exercise for now, or find a place that is air conditioned. The weight room in Trees is unbearably hot right now. They have ventilation, but no air conditioning, so it still gets to be like a sauna in there. When I leave, I'm usually completely soaked when it gets to be like this.
re: Nebulous and the recording efforts, I was off much of July since various band members were on vacation, and I was away for a few weeks in June. Now that everyone's back, I've been trying to crack the whip a little harder and it appears to be paying off. We're making progress - the actual tracking work is about 75% done and I'm mixing what's been recorded as I have time. One song is 98% done. Another is totally tracked and in the process of being mixed. Others are in various stages of being tracked and I'm shooting to have that part totally done for all six songs by 08/12 and hopefully all of the mixing and mastering done by the end of the month.
I've committed to do two more shows - one will be for Millvale Days in September, and the other will be a CD release party at a date, time, and venue yet to be determined. While it might seem like this whole thing is getting dragged out, considering we were off for the better part of two months, the recoridng pregress is not bad, and it would be really strance to put all of this work into recording these songs, only to have someone else play them at the CD release party, dontcha think?
After that, I am done and I've made that very clear to the band.
They really want me to stay, but I think at this point there are new things I want to get involved in, and practicing every Saturday night was/is a big pain in the ass. I know they have feelers out to look for a new bass player, so I hope their search bears some talented fruit.
