Okay, so here I am on LiveJournal for the first time since... Thursday? I'm gonna try and to go all the way back and catch up on my FList, so if I missed something... <3

It's been serious crunch time for finals and normally, I would have some time, but I had my final project in Film and it took FOREVER. We were supposed to answer nine questions, supplied with answers we got from watching the films we'd screened in class and the films our classmates were presenting throughout the semester. From the class list, I watched Closer, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Kill Bill: Volume One, all of which I hadn't gotten around to seeing yet. The project really kicked my ass because I wanted to be really thorough with it. I pretty much wrote a short essay for each question.

1) How does editing affect a film’s narrative? Give specific examples from 3 movies shown in class. Cite and describe the editing techniques used in specific scenes shown in class to illustrate your point.

2) What are the ways in which cinematography enhances a film’s narrative or story? Give 4 specific examples of camera techniques and apply them to at least 3 films we have viewed in class. Describe how it did or did not enhance the story in each film.

3) Discuss the use of sound in at least four films to communicate and enhance the film’s ideology. Be sure to define ideology in film before giving your examples.

4) What is the difference between a film review, critique and theory? Use examples.

5) Compare and contrast story and ideology in Nashville and Rosemary’s Baby and the techniques that enhance them.

6) What is cutting to continuity? Why is this technique essential in popular in filmmaking today- give examples.

7) What is an establishing shot and why is it an important element for a film? - give a specific example from 3 films watched in class of traditional establishing shots and non-traditional establishing shots and how and why they are used.

8) Read a film critique for 2 films viewed during class. Describe the position of the critic. Did you agree? Was it helpful? Justify your answer with your own opinion.

9) What is formalism and how is it different from realism? Describe 3 specific techniques and films to explain
She had e-mailed out the assignment Friday morning, so after going to the doctor on Friday, finishing the movies by Saturday, and starting the paper but also having Mother's Day on Sunday, and going to school on Monday, I was wasn't done until 2:30 last night. But I think it came out pretty well. I just hope it pays off.

That, along with studying for my Health and Math finals, newspaper meetings, and practicing " On My Own" from Les Miserable for my music final over and over and over ( and I STILL almost forgot the words in my performance,) I haven't had time to go online/have been avoiding it because I knew it would cause distractions.

I seriously haven't even watched American Idol yet!!! LOL. I DVR'd it while I studied Null and Alt Hypothesis testing for my Stat final tomorrow.

Maybe I'll go do that now. That, or go to sleep.

busy, school work
