This story is one of the most incredible stories I've ever read. My only qualm is that I wish it was a book instead of a newspaper article.
It's a UConn physics professor whose entire life, and whose entire interest in physics, began after his father died when he was young. After reading H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine," Dr. Ronald Mallett devoted his life to finding a means of traveling through time so he see his father again and warn him to stop smoking. In the meantime, Dr. Mallett became only the 79th African-American to receive a doctorate in physics, and has become a brilliant voice on quantum physics and black holes, but he kept his mouth shut about the time machine until recently.
Seriously, this guy is so amazing. Read it!
