On the way back from work today (the key to the van wouldn't unlock it, so I didn't actually work) I saw a worm in a puddle. I was almost home before I realized how messed up that is.

Speaking of God's monsters, I took a casual look at the seafood in the Orono IGA and learned a new fear:

There were red sticks of meat, more than an inch think and longer than my forearm. They were labeled "king crab legs." Crustaceans are just bigger, more powerful insects to begin with. I'd never seen a king crab, and I imagined what they must look like based on the meat inside their legs. I bet it's about what the Greeks thought the first time they saw a tuskless elephant skull and, based on the huge hole in the front, imagined a cyclops. Except I was right:



What could you even do if you faced one of these? Supposedly king crab fishing is one of the most dangerous occupations because of the long hours and the cold and the machinery and such, but the truth is obvious. Why has no one made a horror movie about these things?
