Meg Turner (or whatever her last name is) asked me what was up today, and I told her that apparently, I was fighting this guy who'd done some some amateur boxing, and that I was probably going to regret it.
Meg: You mean that guy Steve knows? Josh (something)?
Me: Yeah, him.
Meg: He's won championships! He got a technical knockout in 14 seconds!
So instead of taking the bus home to put on a suit, I came to the library to hide and write an essay. I'm so not fighting today, and I don't really want Mike to, although his pride might trump his good judgment. I guess this guy never mentioned his record as a boxer when he talked to Andrew about being on the show, which either means he doesn't realize we're not actual boxers or he wants to hurt someone while defending his (insane) libertarian beliefs.
Post gets boring here:
Public Affairs Reporting is a brutal class. Last spring semester, I tried to cover the Bangor planning board (people had already taken the Orono stuff, and at least the BAT stops near Bangor City Hall. But the meetings were late and without a car I couldn't complete all the story assignments. I felt guilty bumming rides from my roommates all the time to not just the city building but planning board meetings in Bangor elementary schools. Nagle gave me an incomplete, and she's letting me re-take the course this semester without paying again or having to re-attend the classes, although my old portfolio is null and void and I need a whole new collection of stories from a new beat. I guess I'll be covering the UMaine administration at the highest levels, which is fine. It's about the only possible beat that doesn't require a car. I'm just glad Nagle is willing to let me do this. I really need that grade on my transcript.
So I guess I've escaped death and failure. Now I have to listen to the Nous Non Plus CD a whole lot and write a review.
