Week 2 Highlights

(This post was delayed a bit.)

Deconstruction was an interesting topic, and the work room was especially interesting to look through. A lot of people seemed to be a bit concerned at first about what the definition of the topic was, and there was more than a little angst on the literary meaning and such. spydielives wrote a very informative meta post here about the earlier entries and a breakdown of their categories, which I think was a fairly accurate breakdown of what people wrote on. Off the top of my head, the two topics of 'my old house is crumbling' and 'this is how my relationship is bad' were written on the most - not, mind you, that there weren't excellent entries on those topics - but there were a lot of them.

Again, my favorites this week, broken down per tribe but in no particular order:

Tribe 1:
  • basric writes about cooking, deconstructing, and overcoming.
  • markmade gives us deconstruction, in a pure, excellently distilled form, full of his characteristic humor.
  • momebie writes a story about what it means to be alive, and it starts with a person about to die.
Tribe 2:

  • the-vernacular does poetry, humor, archetypes, and a journey.
  • rattsu comes from the internet, and writes about the brave new world we're in.
Tribe 3:

  • crimsonplum gives us a tale of a new recruit into a special organization.
Tribe 4:
  • scriblesnbraile tells us about a life, an interesting life, one that I'd like to get to know better.
  • sileri gives us a glimpse inside the incredibly interesting world of smuggling, drugs, and playing cat and mouse.
  • thaliontholwen writes a more personal entry, one that typically tends to be more written for the self than others. But it's written sharply, cleanly, and it comes across just as a statement that simply is.

Tribe 5:

  • drjeff saves the world. Or maybe he saves one person in it, but I heard once that they're the same.

  • gildedage shows us the connection between two people in another place and another time.
