No televised game this week for Buckeye fans...
This is the last year (Thank GOD) of exclusive licensing of BigTen games to ESPN/ABC.
Just so happens, that this week, OSU v. IU. Will be shown on ESPN-U. Do you know anyone who has ESPN-U? Only if that someone you know has a cable provided other than Comcast, Time Warner, Cox, Insight, or WOW!. I do believe that just about leaves everyone in central Ohio out.
I called WOW! today to see if they even offered it as a package.
They do not.
ESPN-U is available on DirecTV and Dish Network (as part of an upgrade package). ESPN-U is also available elsewhere in the country with other cable providers.
It's pretty sad that the #1 team in the country (last year) was on ESPN every week, and was the "Spotlight" game of the week each week. This year, the #1 team in the country, playing a home game, will not be seen by almost anyone in Columbus.
All I have to say is that I will be out at a restaurant/bar Saturday watching the #1 team in the country do what they do best.
Go out this weekend, support the bars and restaurants that pay $$$ to get DirecTV or Dish Network. Have a beer, cheer on the Buckeyes to another win.
When the game is over, call your cable company and ask them for the BigTen network...
Because if we all don't call and insist that the cable companies add this new channel (which will broadcast all BigTen games next year), we'll all be looking for somewhere to watch the games besides home.
Thanks for letting me rant!
