Today, as me and my brother were driving back home from his job (his car is in the shop, and I have tons of free time), he said something rather interesting to me. He said the following statement:
You know, 26 is the new 21.
At first, I thought to myself, "Wow, that's pretty cheesy." But then I started thinking about all the changes I've made as of late, and came to the conclusion that he just might be right. He originally heard that on The Sopranos, where their reasoning for it was that we, as a society, become so bombarded with information from so many sources that it stunts our emotional growth, and, at 26, we rebel.
Or something to that effect.
Nevertheless, it seems to apply in my case. For example, I wanted to get back into school. What did I do? I got off my ass and registered for school. Then, work, at both Champps and Hot Topic, became unbearable. What did I do? I quit. My grades stared slipping in school. What did I do? I began to concentrate more on my work, and they've steadily increased.
In fact, everything seems to FINALLY be turning around somewhat. Yes, I'm leaving some room for contradiction, because I'm still single and jobless and living at home and driving around a car that I think might explode one day. But you know what? I've been happy. I've been getting out of the house and enjoying life. I've been getting better grades. Today, I had a job interview at a law firm, and, even though I arrived late, DUE TO TRAFFIC, they still asked me to come back tomorrow (and seemed pretty genuine in their enthusiasm.). And the project with Nakia, Christian, and Nero seems to be coming along well, too.
To put it plainly, I'm liking this flow of POSITIVITY.
So, if 26 really is the new 21, then I'm anxious to see what kinds of trouble I can get into. :)
