Stephanie Brown is more familiar with the Gotham skyline than any sixteen-year-old girl should be. Not familiar just with the way it looks, but with which buildings are good to shoot for, which provide the best views of traffic, which you can leap off and how long you can leap for before splattering in oncoming traffic. She knows which way to jump

There are giggles. None of them are Sokka's.
...Probably.

But ... uh. Why? What? Where? What the hell is going on? Why are there babies in the middle of the street?
"...uh ... hi?" she tries, tucking her mask into her belt pocket and taking a few steps down the street towards them. "...er?"

Sokka is a little disturbed at how normal this is.
Looking up, he smiles a little-- while Hana and Loo greet Steph with the untranslatable words of, "AH BA AHM!"
It's excitement, really.
"Hey."
Reply
"Hi. Uh. This is gonna be a really - awww, who's a lovely girl? - stupid question, but um. Agoo agoo agoo? Awwww. Where are we? Who are you? What's going on?"
Reply
"This is Eden - it's a street, big walls, can't climb them, though you're welcome to try. None of us have been able to leave, 'us' being the random people who show up here for no reason at all, 'us' currently being me, Sokka, the little one here," he bounces his legs a little and the other baby squeals with glee, "Hana, and this overachiever," Loo's hands are wiggled, making her dance where she stands, "is Loo.
"Right now, what's going on is that we're learning to stand on our own. Not too exciting, but they are lovely girls."

She pulls her hands back when she does notice, because she probably wouldn't like random strangers coming up to her on the street and reaching for her babies. But she's still making faces for them.
"Seriously, nobody can climb the walls? But I just met - my boyfriend, only older. He's, um. We're superheroes, sort of. Nobody can get out at all?"

Hana, however, looks up from her seat in Sokka's lap and whines. She wants a present, too!
Sokka just grins as Steph shows them attention, watching her closely but letting Loo grab onto her hand. "He's older? That used to happen in the last place I was in. He's okay, though?
"My sister, these girls' mom, she's been trying to climb the walls non-stop, and a bunch of other people, too. No one's managed it yet, though."
Reply
"He's okay." She isn't sure how much she should say. "He's ... bad stuff happened to him since then. And apparently in his future I was dead? But yeah, he seemed fine."
It's hard to be woecakes when there are ba-aba-aba'ing babies around. She grins at them, with that silly omg-cute expression.
"That's weird."

Since one of his hands still holds Loo up, Sokka uses the other to brace against Hana's chest to keep her from falling forward. And, perhaps, he's watching Steph a little more closely now. It wasn't that long ago that Wash's wife showed up, insisting he had died, too...
"That no one can climb the walls or that you're dead in the future?"
Reply
She wiggles her free hand at Loo and Hana in turns.
"I mean, that's totally assuming we figure out how to get back. But if we can't leave here, how did I die in his world, if I was - uh, man, this stuff hurts my brain."
Babies are easier to think about. They make her smile.

Sokka's not much for fate, but he is all about not moping when it's only going to get in the way of doing something productive.
...well, usually anyway.

She leans forward to kiss Loo's little hand absently.
"...Did I just say 'if'?" Her eyes widen a little. "Do you think I meant that?"

Hana squeals with neglect and Sokka tickles her stomach.
"I think you're a little biased. The girls can be kind of convincing when they want someone to stay and entertain them." Sokka grins a little, holding his arm out to let Loo take a few more steps-- but he's still got her hand.
Blonde and blue-eyed Stephanie may be, but he didn't live this long by trusting everybody. And until she shows him she can Husk out of that blonde hair and blue eyes, he's not letting go of his nieces.

"You think we'll really get back out?" She lets her nose be grabbed, and crosses her eyes to look at the hand in question. "Or ... back home? Did you say 'the last world like this?" Worried face.
Reply
"Yeah, the last world," he replies, nodding as Loo takes the opportunity of Steph's nose to bap it with her palm. "I lived there for a year with a whole bunch of people - these girls' parents. They were born there. Just like last time, we turn a corner and poof-- new world."

She's done her worrying now! That's about all the existential angst this Steph can handle at a time.
"Is there somewhere people are staying? Is there any sort of organisation or anything, or do we just ... like ... explore until we find a place to fall down?"
