DePaul vs. Columbia: round 2!

Jun 27, 2005 16:41

SO after talking to some people who work at these schools i am getting a better idea of what to do...and im getting kind of excited about it.

back to the comparison

DePaul
-To get into Depaul's school of music i would have to audition, and i cant start until fall of 2006.
Now, as most of you know, I havent the slightest on how to read music, nor can i translate that to my guitar, well i will have to learn to read music in order to audition, ill also have to improv a solo (thats no problem), and figure out a chord progression (i might be able to pull that off).
-I would audition for Jazz Guitar, and the professor of jazz guitar, said he could give me lessons throughout next year to help me prepare for the audition, meaning, Jazz Guitar Lessons, and laerning to read music, that's hot!
-Turns out its not precisely Music Business, its Performing arts management. meaning i would learn how to promote not only music and concerts, but theatre shit as well...as much as i could do that, i'll never be producing theatre works ever, only music.
-but still, in the end, ill leave with a better knowledge of playing guitar, know how to read music, and be able to produce records, thats pretty sweet.

Columbia
-More specific on music business. No need to audition, i can start THIS fall. The sooner i start the sooner i graduate.
-Closer to where i will be living, and they will accept me on the spot if i wanted.
-no guitar classes or anything, so im on my own for learning guitar the rest of my life, many people do that and end up fine.

so DePaul looks like it would leave me a lot better off, both give the same accredible degree...its just how willing i am to bring my grades up, and take these guitar lessons.

leave some feedback, and tell me what you think as of now...
