Home again: here's a recap

And we're back from Florida. A day-by-day log of some kind follows.

Saturday - Day 1
Oh what fun. Started in Richmond around noon. The Hokies were kicking off against UVA in what would be an absolute blowout in Charlottesville. And I loved it. We watched in Fuddruckers there in Richmond until it was 17-0 and I think it was 24-0 at the half. Final score I got when I got to Orlando: 52-14. Go Hokies. The plane ride was fun. This was my first trip in the air and it was pretty cool. Under 2 hours and you get 40+ degree warmer temperatures. Very nice indeed. Then it was on to rent our SUV (Sport Utility Van) that should've been a Bonneville. Yes, I road in a minivan all week. Ugh. It looked more like a Sport Utility mixed with a van, but it was still a van. I preferred the Bonneville, but they didn't have any left, so they gave us an UPGRADE to the Uplander. Then after like 2 hours of driving on what should have been 30 minutes (we got a little lost), we finally made it to the hotel. Got checked in, unpacked, went to see the coolest 13 month old on the planet, and went to bed after watching the CANES lose to the YELLOW JACKETS putting the HOKIES back on top of their division.

Sunday - Day 2
Sea World day. Slept in a little and then hit Sea World early in the week because we knew Monday would be rainy. Actually Sunday turned out to be pretty wet, but we survived and Sea World was fun. I don't know which was better, watching the stuff or watching Deacon (the 13 mo. old). Then we did dinner at Smokey Bones which was GOOOOOOD. Lynchburg needs one.

Monday - Day 3
Shopping day at some outlets before rain. Did a little walking around at some outlet places. I didn't buy anything except something for some girl in Tate :P Then we went back to the room for some napping and laying around while it rained and then did dinner at the Longhorn Steakhouse. Good eats.

Tuesday - Day 4
Disney day 1. Magic Kingdom, yea stay away from there when it's crowded. There's nothing there worth seeing when it was crowded like it was when we went. Can't get around. Can't ride anything. Wow, just stay out. Then we went to Epcot and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Finished up a few things there, snacked for dinner, did a quick change of clothes, and went back to watch the fireworks and light show. It was awesome.

Wednesday - Day 5
Needed a lighter day since Tuesday was so exhausting. So our family of 4 hit the Kennedy Space Center. I'm fascinated by that stuff so I had fun, more than I think my family had. My only complaint is it's run by the Federal Govt and you can tell. One metal detector for everybody going through. Then you gotta get the stuff not in your pockets inspected. It was stupid. Then it looks like they through the center up in the late 80's or early 90's and haven't done anything to it since. But other than that I still enjoyed it. Dinner at Red Lobster with my family and back to the hotel.

Thursday - Day 6
Disney day 2. LOOONG day. Started out in MGM and rode rides like crazy. Fast Passes to this Fast Passes to that. Ran around in there from like 9am to 3 or 4. Lunch break included. Then we ran over to Epcot to ride Soarin' and found out that they had stopped distributing Fast Passes for the day and the wait was 100 minutes or more so we just decided to skip it. Browsed around some and went back to MGM to take a look at the Christmas lights. All I can say is wow and post some pictures later. They were good. Then it was back to Epcot for the fireworks again and back to the hotel. Oh and you want to know my Thanksgiving dinner this year? McDonalds fries. Oh yeah.

Friday - Day 7
The Moles/Pugh families day of departure. We followed them up to Tampa for lunch and to take a look at Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Again, wow. Pictures to come. Ate lunch at a really good restaurant up there called the "Friendly Fisherman" I believe. Then we said our goodbyes to our extended family until Christmas and headed back to Orlando for dinner at Smokey Bones again.

Saturday - Day 8
Up EAAARLY to head back here. Up at 4am, airport by 5, on the plane at 6:30, departed at 7, landed in Richmond at 8:46am. Were you even awake? We did lunch in Richmond and headed back here. And here I am. Florida Trip concluded.

Yeah, that was the longest post ever. Hope you enjoyed it.
