梦要追,
岁月别留白,
让黄城为你生活添色彩。
飞起来,让你飞起来,
黄城绝对最精彩。
黄城绝对最精彩。
Although I haven't blogged in ages, 黄城 is the perfect reason to do so.
It's now 24 hours after the start of bump-out. And everything seems to have changed.
黄城 feels much more different than the other 福建会馆 shows I've done in the past. Maybe it's because its the first time I'm doing backstage.
Nah, it's because I'm a J2 in 黄城 now.
No, it's just because it's 黄城夜韵2008.
From preparation work last year until this year, 黄城 has been a transformation of everyone's lives.
The scriptwriting classes that started way before everything,
the production meetings that continued till the last day,
the designer meetings that we spent our holidays on.
Remember,
the panic when 黄城 didn't gather enough J1s on the first 2 days of recruitment?
the relief and amazement when we got 200+ J1s in the end?
the orientation where we played random games? (and anastasia got a really bad bruise ):)
the first day of 开工?
the third week of school when the entire stretch of B block turned into 黄城 territory?
the stage markings of booms and curtains, CWC and CYC at the three 排戏地点s?
the first 谢幕 practice where leekoon taught us how to clap, jump, swing hands?
the first 连排 at LT3 which had a really cramped backstage?
the first 连排 at the hall with all the stage markings and recreation of VT stage?
the first 总彩 where our amazing ticketing officers announced full houses for all three shows?
the bump-in days where every group was frantically rushing work?
the first 公演 where we were worried whether everything will be fine?
the last 谢幕 where we all cried together?
the 黄城夜韵2008 that we all lived for?

After watching the first 总彩, I was really worried whether we could live up to the expectations of our full house shows. But everyone really picked up and piaed super hard in the last 2 weeks. The actors and directors and SMs really improved their shows by tons and tons. Many people told me that they actually teared during 晚安,妈妈 and everyone loved the set and show of 完美升级! All the backstage crew piaed super hard as well, props had a mad impossible schedule to work with, sounds had to change their tracks after rounds and rounds of feedback, costumes had a super tight budget to work with given the stuff they needed to prepare, makeup had so many actors to work with this year.
当然,我们也不能忘了 : 摄影,宣传,票务! They did a lot of work too, ticketing setting a record this year, 摄影and宣传 helping too. And Huiying, along with the welfare committee with Kelly, really helped to encourage the entire 黄城 to pia for the show!
To Kianyang: The first time I went to help out 道具 in 黄城 2007, you were the first person I knew there. I still remember one day where I was bored and went to amphi during break, and I saw you there sawing all alone during your own recess time just for 黄城. Your passion for theatre is unbelievable. I found out afterwards that gen, shinq and you actually worked together for quite a bit le. The backstage production team owe it all to you this year for making 黄城 so successful. One more thing: lighten up on the RED BULL okay? Haha.
To Suayu: Oddly enough, although our roles in 黄城08 were so far apart, you are the first person I knew in 黄城. That kind of backdates all the way back to P6 where we were in 福建会馆. When you quit HKK, I was wondering what happened to you and theatre. But back in 黄城,I saw that your passion for theatre has never died. Thank you for leading the whole of 黄城 this year to a resounding success! :D

To my 灯光组: I just wish 黄城 has left many great memories for you all. The first 2 months might have been a boring period of time, but we are still part of 黄城 and we are 黄城人! All of your combined effort has brought lights to a new level of plotting efficiency =D Our practicals this year were harder as well. I must personally thank Weijie for guiding all our juniors with the practicals and followspots as well. You've really helped lightened a lot of Danny and my load of work! ((:
To 音响组: Although we work on different aspects of the show, but we always spend time together, whether during 开工 or bump-in. It's been a stressful period of time, but we all know that the result was completely worth it. I love the soundtracks, thanks for a copy of them! I'm like, looping through all the songs for the night le. =D To Anna and Jiemin, you girls rock 音响!:D

To Eileen, Yinghan, Jinhao and 晚安,妈妈: This show left really deep memories, the first day I got to know the actors, the many SM-LD talks I had with Jinhao...I still remember the time when you blew up at the actors after the full run. One thing I'll never forget about 晚安,妈妈 is how much they improved in such a short period of time. The actors really put in a lot of effort to 培养情绪 and 入戏. As I was reading blogs online, I saw that a lot of people were touched by the emotions that the actors put in and teared. Eileen and Yinghan have also put in a fantastic job in rewriting the script and directing the actors. Jinhao did all the saigang coordination with the backstage groups :b 希望晚安,妈妈会留下一个深刻的印象在我们的观众里...
To Dingyi, Junjie, Yicheng and Upgrade! 完美升级: It's been a totally great and heartwarming experience to work with you guys and this show. The show has gone through a lot, from Dingyi and Junjie rushing to direct and put the whole play together, to ironing out the nitty gritty details of each scene with the SM. As an senior working with this show, I'm really glad that I had this opportunity to. The props were fantastic, the acting was awesome, the script was beautiful...Man I really have nothing to say except that I've disappointed you guys in lights. I wish that I had done more to bring out the power of this play...And once again, sorry Charlotte ^^"

I can't wait for school to start. To see everyone again. And it'll be so much closer to 小黄城. Closer to 庆功宴.
