Title: Breathe your life into me
Pairing: Demi/Selena
Chapter: (3/??)
Rating: 14A up to R for language
Summary: Demi and Selena have been together since the beginning. Through ups and downs. Instead of singing though, Demi has take on the profession of a local street fighter with Selena as her support and lover. Who knew that one letter would change the course and future of these girls' live's. Sometimes you can never really go back...No matter how badly you want to.
The city came to life once more as dawn broke above the buildings. The cascading hue signaling the start of a new day.
Nestled in the warmth of a soft mattress and in the solid arms of her lover, Selena opened her brown eyes and noted the room. The teen did not remember moving from the couch the night before. However in her mind she somehow figured Demi must have relocated them to some place more...Appropriate.
Twisting her head so she could see over her shoulder she flashed her sleeping love a small smile. The two girls were lucky that Brian hadn't found out that Demi was there. The man didn't approve of her and thought she was a bad influence toward his step-daughter. It wasn't just Demi's existance though. Everyone knew that he enjoyed making Selena's life as miserable as possible.
Turning her body over, Selena moved her arms so they snaked around Demi's toned form. The fighter didn't even seem flustered by all the movements and continued to rest.
The drowse came to a halt suddenly with the loud crash of the bedroom door opening.
A man entered, his boots thudding against the wooden floor. In the palm of his hand he grasped a clear bottle. He didn't need to take a sip to tell the girls he had been drinking. The rank smell fuming from his pours and clothing. Not to mention his sour attitude.
Selena almost jumped out of her skin from the startle.
"Brian!" Quickly, the girl ensured her bare body was covered by the white sheets. At some point through out the night her clothing had ended up scattered on the floor. Courtesy of her companion.
Demi had been woken by the loud uproar the man was making and was now in a agitated mood. So much for sleeping in. It was no surprise seeing Brian so drunk in the morning though.
The fighter turned her head and stared at the large male through narrowed eyes.
The sun was bright and her vision wasn't focused just yet. It almost burned.
"What'd I tell you about her, Selena?" he asked, his tongue nearly tripping over each word. The strong scent of vodka and ale had lingered into the room and was making Selena's head spin.
"I'm not going to stay away from her, Brian. What the hell gives you the right to tell me who I can hang out with!" Somehow Selena always grew a lip whenever Demi was around. Sometimes it would get her into trouble because she became to over confident and would have to deal with the fueled situation on her own later. This time however, Selena was sure Demi wouldn't allow her Brian to lay a finger on her.
Brian's face had turned red with fury. His brow rippling as he stared straight towards his step daughter. Her disrespect always made him violent.
The older of the two girls gripped the sheets tighter around her body, as if it were a shield.
Demi looked at her lover for a moment and then back at the grown man.
Standing up she shuffled around the side of the bed knowing that he was drunk and could become violent at any point.
As predicted, Brian smashed the bottle of alcohol against the wall causing liquid to splash along the paint and floor. Demi growled within her throat and took caution. Brian was showing no fear as he began waving the sharp broken glass around.
Demi quickly lunged forward and managed to restrain his wrists, "Don't even dare" she hissed.
Brian yelled in her face, trying to yank his large wrists free of her grasp. It was no use. Perhaps on an average sober day Brian could have won, but not in his current state.
Using what strength she had, Demi used her fist to punch him in the face causing him to wreel. Quickly, after getting a grip on his wrists again, she shoved him out the door before locking it shut tight.
Brian, in a whirl of fury, rained his fists against the wood for a couple minutes before he cussed loudly and stormed away.
Heaving a sigh, Demi went back to Selena, who still looked somewhat terrified, and sat on the side of the bed next to her.
"You really shouldn't talk back when hes drunk." Demi shot her a look of concern. She couldn't always be there to help the girl when Brian threw one of his tantrum's.
Selena seemed to just brush off Demi's comment though as she slid herself out of bed and began to pull her clothing on.
"Have you thought anymore about that tournament in Newyork?" Selena asked as she stared at herself in the mirror. Running a brush through her dark locks.
Demi just shrugged and watched her lover closely. There would be a ton of money involved, a little to much to pass up. Besides, she'd only be gone until the end of it, which wouldn't be all that long. She hoped...
"I thought about it last night, and I think I might go through with it. Going would have it's benefits after all." Demi didn't want to leave Selena behind. If there were anyway to bring her, she would do it. Leaving her was going to cut a hole through her gut.
"So you've made up your mind?" Though the latina was happy, her heart still felt like it had been chained down and filled with bricks. "I know you'll pull through, Demi" As much as it dug at Selena, she had faith Demi would be alright and win that offered money. "When do you leave?" she asked. A knot starting in her throat.
Standing up, Demi slid over to her troubled Selena and kissed her cheek. "I was thinking today or tomorrow...I need enough time to get there and settle in before it starts. Not to mention find this idiot Wylder."
Selena nodded before staring into the fighters eyes. "I'm going to miss you Demi. You have my number if you want to call...I love you" Selena spoke as she slid her hands up the womans shoulders and wrapped her arms around her neck. Pressing her face into Demi's shoulder she quickly bit back her sobs and forced herself not to cry. This would be the longest they had ever been apart.
"I love you too...We'll be together again soon, I promise. As for now though, you need to get to school...I need to head back over to June's to explain the plan. I'll be seeing you before I leave Sel, so try and focus on your work." Demi forced a small smile and pressed her lips to Selena's forehead.
The older of the two just shook her head from Demi's lips before crushing hers against Demi's in a deep, passionate kiss. Demi was a little surprised but didn't refuse.
After breaking it, Selena nodded a little, her eyes focused on the floor, and let her hands slowly slide away from her loves shoulders. How long would she be waiting for Demi to return? The tournament couldn't be all that long...Even though it would most likely have a ton of contestants.
Selena slung her school bag over her left shoulder and walked out of the house with her lover before locking the door.
"Come over tonight, after school." Demi kissed Selena's cheek one last time before turning on her heel and headed down the street and out of sight.
Selena found it hard walking to school on her own for once. Normally Demi graced her with her company each morning, even if she wasn't attending class. Selena just guessed Demi would be busy preping for her leave to New York.
Huffing a sigh Selena hurried along and managed to make the first bell.
