Life Moves On
So where are we this week....
Firstly our shipment hasn't come so no sign of our stuff yet, which means no laptop, which means no access to certain websites, which means I have an entire season of Lost and "ashes to ashes" to watch. It also means Who will have to wait a couple of weeks....
Even when I get my laptop I will have to fight with the internet guy. He came out a couple of weeks ago to set up the connection. Then he had to get on our work computer to set up a dialer as you have to "dial into" their broadband connection, when I mentioned such radical concepts as an open internet connection he looked at me like I was some idiot. And of course only one computer can do that, so in order for the four laptops in our flat (when our shipment comes) (2 work and 2 home) we have to set up a wireless network, which he will have to do due to the nature of their network.
But that's not all. Our sparkling new 2MB (gosh!) connection will have a grand total of 2.5G of traffic allowed on it a month. That's barely enough to keep up with season 4 of the UK apprentice let alone anything else! In order to get "unlimited" downloads I can only have a 224kbs connection (what is this, 1996?) It should be manageable though because I don't care if it takes several hours for something to download as I'll do it all over night....
In other news I was in KL last week, which is a city that is all fur coat and no knickers. Loads of super posh shopping malls and versace show rooms, then 2 blocks away the rats are running across the street. Spent 3 days being terribly confused as to whether person in the tight skirt in front of me was male or female and being hassled by hookers in bars (these were definitely female.... I think).
