Sellout is generally quite wary about the Nexus, but by the time he trudges back out of it, he’s too weary and confused to worry much about what’s behind him.

To make a long story short, Scanbar had got loose in the place recently, and when he came back the pathologist-cum-layabout was far too enthusiastic for anyone’s liking. He babbled at everyone in sight about ghosts and Earth bots and the meaning of life for an hour, then disappeared into his workroom and locked the door behind him. After some while he came out, said he’d forgotten something, pushed a datapad of schematics at Sellout, babbled for two hours about ‘CR chambers’ and ‘don’t you like them?’ and couches, for some reason… then vanished back into his room with a cheerful “Well, I’ll leave you to it, then.”

Since then the door had remained barred, with the occasional philosophical mutterings leaking out of the interior. It was natural that Sellout should want to figure out what the Nexus had done to set off this behaviour in his closeted not-a-medic.

He still has no idea.

He also has no idea that behind him, the ship’s forbidden airlock is still open, and some nightmares follow you home...
