herePersonality: As the Duchess of Milan, and a Cardinal of the Church, Caterina is a woman of deep conviction and faith. She is passionate about her beliefs, and her unflinching stand for peace between humans and Methuselah, which often leads to conflict between herself and other people in authority, including her brother--but she is not to proud to see reason if and when she finds herself in the wrong.
Though she often comes across as stern, she also harbors an abiding loyalty toward her allies, and a compassion for her people. She also has a softer, friendlier side, as seen by her closest personal friends--and often manifests in her playful, scolding banter with flighty Father Nightroad.
Conversely, her loyalty to and love for her friends and family has the potential to be used against her--particularly Abel and Alessandro--as she would do nearly anything to protect them, even to the point of sacrificing her own life. She also has no qualms about speaking her mind, or taking action in an urgent situation, which can sometimes be misconstrued as rebellion or blasphemy--but that has never stopped her from doing what she feels is right.
What your character can offer: While Caterina is only human, what she lacks the enhanced abilities of many of her AX officers, she makes up for in strength of character and diplomacy. She is trained in politics, which makes her a skilled negotiator, and a powerful ally when it comes to keeping the peace. And for more "aggressive" negotiations...well that's where her friends at AX come in.
What items will they be bringing with them? A vial of Lilith's nanomachines, which she intended to have sent to Abel's tomb.
Third-Person Sample: Cardinal Caterina Sforza, Duchess of Milan, strode down the dismal street, her scarlet robes trailing in the dust. Her hands were lost in the voluminous folds, even as she did her best to gather them up. She was graceful, even in this unusual setting, but she was not used to such disrepair…such utter squalor. Even the war between the Terrans and Methuselah, and the recent destruction that the conflict had brought with it was nothing in comparison to this place. She imagined that it must be what the world had looked like after the third world war, when the conflict between vampires and humans had been resurrected. Were they really expected to rebuild this alien civilization? It was difficult enough to keep the peace back home!
She sighed, adjusting her monocle between two long, manicured fingers as she gazed up at the twin moons that hung in the sky. It was beautiful, really, but it only served to remind her just how far she was from home. Alone. Friendless. She shook her head, and glanced down at the small security box clutched in her other hand, slipping it deep into a hidden pocket within her robe. No, she would never be without a friend, never be truly alone; but still, she was troubled. Her oldest and dearest friend lay, deathlike, in need of the contents of vial enclosed in that box, and the weight of it alongside the device that had been issued to her upon her waking in this strange place could hardly rival the heaviness of her heart.
“So here I am. Like Abraham; a stranger in a strange land,” she said to herself, setting her chin as she continued forward in search of…she knew not what. “If this is some kind of test, as was placed before the saints of old…well then. I will not let you down.” She was not certain if the you to whom she spoke was her dear friend, Father Abel, from whose funeral she had been taken, or to the heavenly Father whom Abel had long served in hope--but her resolve was the same on all counts. “I will not lose faith.”
